Samsung Mesmerize

Well -- that didn't take long. It was only yesterday we let you all know that the Samsung Mesmerize would be getting Gingerbread rolled out to it shortly. At the time, we didn't know when exactly but apparently US Cellular did and in fact -- it's rolling out now. If you're looking for the full details you can check out the source link below, otherwise head on into the Samsung Mesmerize forums and let us know how the update went for you.

Source: US Cellular; Thanks, Reid!

The only mesmerizing I want is from today's SGS2 announcement today!

This update is terrible don't do it. The update went fine but now my phone is working horribly. I have had to pull the battery 3 times because the phone has locked up, just since last night. Eclair was great, Froyo, good but this is really bad.

So my friend has this phone but shes not sure if she should update to GB, cause the last update she got messed up her phone pretty bad. Has anyone had any problems with the new update?

I ran the Gingerbread update and skipped the first update completely.
Worst part is getting the computer to accept a viable download from USCellulars site. I finally found that a windows 7 machine with all firewalls off downloaded a clean file.
Then it took 15-20 minutes to update my phone.
I lost NOTHING in the update all info stayed put, and yes it is Gingerbread by checking the phone specs. Battery life increased, better reception, so far I am 100% satisfied. Most everyone I have heard of who had this done a USC tech center have gotten back a wiped phone. The download I did Friday even left my text messages a personalized ringtones in place. SKIP THE STORE! Pull the SD card, Update the phone and do it yourself!
I believe the key is having an up to date computer with ALL firewalls and antivirus OFF.
Windows 7 preferred from my experience!
