Samsung and AT&T this morning announced the carrier's first LTE smartphones -- the Android 2.3.5-powered Galaxy S II Skyrocket and HTC Vivid.

AT&T's got two data plans from which to choose: 200MB for $15 a month (an additional 200MB costs another $15), or 2GB for $25 a month, with a extra 1GB costing another $10. You can add 4GB of mobile hotspot data for an addition $45 a month.

This is probably using a Qualcomm chip with Adreno 220 graphics. The Exynos chipset is far superior. Only thing you're missing out on is LTE but HSPA+ should hold you over.

Oh.. My.. God. I Really Feel For You Guys & Gals.. I Begged People I Know To Come To Big Red Pre - July 7th.. To Get The LTE/Unlimited Package And Have It Grandfathered In Forever.. And Just Grab A 4G LTE Droid Charge.. But No.. It's a "Single Core" w Only 512 Megs of Ram.. Now, We Have The Nexus & The Note On The Way.. With The Unlimited Ability To Use Them Online & To Stream.. Geez Just a 1/2 hour of Slingbox Uses Over 500k of Data.. What good is 2 or 3 Gigs to Last 30 Days? Now I Tell Everyone To Go To Sprint.. You Need Unlimited Net Access If You Are Going To Put Out $500 To $800 For These Phones with Tax and The Must Have Accessories.. ATT is Really Screwing You.

Actually, I am Granpa'd in with unlimited data for AT&T and we will get the G Nex (soon enough) and the Sammy Note as well. I believe I read a post about the Note going to be available as LTE and the GS2 HD LTE is out of the bag and will come to us as well, so I don't think I'm being screwed, but thanks.

Does anyone know if us Grandfathered unlimited dataplan people get unlimited data on LTE, or are they going to use that to shed us off of our unlimited?

Hol up! Hol up!......woe dere..... So ATT will have 2 GS2s? One with LTE and one without?... Strange since they should have just came out with this one instead.

Exactly.Since AT&T already markets HSPA+ as "4G" up to and including the name of their phones I wonder what they'll name their REAL 4G handsets? 5G?

Looks very nice.If I was in a Market which I felt sure was getting AT&T's LTE soon I'd pick this up.I wonder, has AT&T announced their LTE expansion roadmap yet, like Verizon does?

I want that Galaxy.....

EDIT: I just remembered that Galaxy is the LTE model Samsung announced back in September...of course we don't get the Galaxy S II HD LTE... :/

Wow that's an Upgrade! Isn't this the rumored specs for the Holiday? Or am I getting my dream phones mixed up?

It most certainly is the Holiday/Raider 4G! I've been waiting for this phone since the first pix leaked out in May. I'm getting this one over the GS2 Skyrocket for the qHD screen. The thickness doesn't bother me, because this will be living in a Seidio Convert as soon as Seidio starts selling them.

As I read this in my head all I could hear was "check, check, check, check" it hit all the nails on the head....problem? Its stinkin at&t

omg!WOW! HTC Holiday or galaxy note or the GS2 Rocket-this is going to be a good Christmas toy season for me...

I'm in Houston and tied to AT&T, so this is my phone. So, so glad I didn't bite on the HSPA+ GS2. Patience paid off this time!

=O You're telling me you waited a while longer to buy a new phone and a better one came out? No way! Patience paid off this time indeed.

$50 and $100 cheaper then Verizon's LTE phones! Wonder if this is because they have it in only 5 cities so far? I'm in Houston and they both have LTE here, but I also have unlimited data right now with Verizon. If I was a new costumer no doubt I would be looking to save some money up front.

Now that HTC phone actually looks pretty good. All of the other ones look the same to me. This looks better than the Rezound in my opinion.

Is that the same as the hTc Raider? The Raider with LTE hits Bell Canada tomorrow. Looks quite impressive but no LTE here out west yet. :/

Like I said below, the actual exterior of the phone doesn't bother me, since this is going to be living in a Seidio Convert as soon as they start making them for this phone.

Man, my heart stopped for a second when I saw 'AT&T' and 'Samsung' together; I had the fleeting hope that it would be an announcement of the Galaxy Note.

But noo. This phone's still on a WVGA resolution! That alone is a deal breaker.

Why does every great phone have to have a 4.5" screen? Can someone please build a 4" superphone that will fit my tiny carny hands? These 4.5" monsters just don't work for me.

Damn, just exchanged my Infuse for the SGS2 at Costco Thursday, after waiting 2 1/2 weeks for them to get them in stock at the store. Got to be kidding me, now I have to consider exchanging it again for an LTE model???

This is the first time I've felt like, "BUT I JUST GOT THIS ONE!". Good ole Costco and the 90 day exchange policy though (thank goodness).

these HTC designs are starting to look dated and tired compared to the Samsungs like the new Nexus. sleek, all black, rounded, no lines, and no buttons is the way to go. these HTC square slabs with big edged bezels and backings and cheesy ornamentation and faux markings and designs don't look so hot anymore.

LOL dicks..I just bought my s2 yesterday and already rooted.oh well ill wait for 2nd phone and besides only 5 cities with lte

HTC vivid/holiday has NO front facing camera so its a NO for me
Samsung galaxy S2 with super amoled plus its a beret deal for me...Skyrocket it is....

Uh there is a front facing camera, its just not in the spec sheeet, but the Raider has one, so this one does too

I've liked sense since i got my captivate, but at the time there was only the aria on at&t and i had no idea on the inspire was coming because it was september, so im getting the vivd when i can, and keep my cappy but load CM9 to try out ics

I wondering what the HSPA + fallback is going to be I am hopping 21+
Anyway that HTC is looking great for me an HTC fan and an amazing future purging stuff.

Device will probably be HSPA+ category 14 and 21mbps capable, but AT&T's HSPA+ network is only 14.4mbps at this time wit no plans of upgrading it to 21mbps. They simply don't use 64QAM modulation that is a requirement for achieving over 14.4mbps speeds.
They still use 16QAM, technology that limits speeds up to 14.4mbps.

The HTC Raider is what was once known as the HTC Holiday, or VIVID
It has 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel 1080p HD camera, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, a 4.5 inch qHD display and more. It'll run Android 2.3 with HTC Sense.

FINALLY!!!! They released the Holiday/Raider/Vivid!!! About Freaking Time!!!! @kurioskurion - That's a 1.3MP front - facing camera.

I have been thinking of going back to Sprint. But since the company i work for partnered with AT&T Employees get a 20% discount so i think i will stay with AT&T for now. Also the Vivid looks sweet and at only $199. My contract is up next July so the price will probably go down by then i hope

The HTC Raider is what was once known as the HTC Holiday, and initially will be a 4G LTE phone for South Korea.

Strange this phone has the same rounded edges as the TMobile version, probably the same phone w/ a dual core OMAP processor but diffrent radio.

The T-Mobile one is snapdragon, this one prob is 2 since im pretty sure Exynos+LTE is bad, and 42MBSHSPA+ also, thats why they used snapdragon on the tmo version

yes im 90% sure they will be qualcomm chips as its an LTE device. its the one drawback for me (grabbing the LTE version from rogers hopefully this week)

The Htc phone looks great. But the light reflection on the back gives the illusion that it protrudes.

It's not an illusion. Look at the side image, it clearly protrudes out as if its a hexagon or something. If that's not an ugly design then I don't know what is. I'll take one skyrocket please.

Wow, these look like great handsets, but after the release of Ice Cream Sandwich...these handsets look old.

Like mentioned above, this GS2 most likely has a Qualcomm S3 chip instead of the Exynos (like the T-Mobile variant).

That's something think about. If it doesn't have the Exynos processor I really don't want it. I hope its an upgraded Exynos.

I don't really care about HSPA+ vs. LTE, since im on a capped (200MB) plan and wont use that much... Only question now, what should i get for my upgrade coming in a couple months... Atrix 2, Captivate Glide, Galaxy Nexus( Im Pretty sure AT&T will probably pick it up), Vivid, Skyrocket, or OGSGSII, choices choices.

I could care less what chip it has in it. It will make very little practical difference. What will be a difference is how much faster the data is on this phone in an LTE market. 12 to 15 or more mbps down! Yes, that is as fast as some home internet speeds! I doubt I will care about an Exynos or OMAP or Qualcomm processors when I am streaming as fast as wifi or using Tango to see my kids at live speed anywhere not just hooked up to wifi!(provided I get to keep my unlimited data) lol!

Bring on the Skyrocket!

Can someone please check the HTC Vivid for NFC support? Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks and see if NFC is listed. Thanks.
