Sony Xperia Z2

UK retailer Carphone Warehouse sends news that it'll begin stocking Sony's new Xperia Z2 in limited quantities from next week, ahead of the handset's general availability on May 1. The 5.2-inch Z2 sells for £549.99 outright, and is also available on 24-month contracts through EE, T-Mobile, Orange, O2, Vodafone and Talkmobile from between £38 and £53 per month. For a "free" Z2, you're looking at £42 per month — a 3GB deal on Vodafone with £100 cashback.

Carphone's press release suggests the Xperia Z2 will be available for pre-order customers only, which is in line with Sony's previous statement on Z2 delays

The retailer says pre-order customers will get £80 worth of entertainment content for free, including Captain Phillips, Elysium and Django Unchained. And from May 13 they'll also be able to download Michael Jackson's Xscape from the Sony Xperia Lounge app.

Update: Phones 4u has chimed in with their own Xperia Z2 availability for next week, with pre-order deliveries starting on 14 April. In addition to the phone and the Michael Jackson album, customers will also get a Sony SRS-BTX300 wireless speaker in white, £80 worth of Sony games, music, and movies plus 50% off on a Sony SmartBand. But wait, there's more! If you opt to get the Xperiz Z2 on a 4G tariff through Phones 4u, they'll also through in £50 in Google Play Store credit.
