Super Bowl

The NFL on Thursday announced that Super Bowl XLVI will be streamed to the web and mobile devices -- including the NFL Mobile Android app available on Verizon devices. Additionally, the wild-card games and Pro Bowl also will be streamed. You'll get the same features we've long enjoyed on Sunday night games, including additional camera angles, in-game highlights and live statistics.

Super Bowl to be streamed to the NFL Mobile app on Verizon devices

First thing I noticed as well, haha...

That and the battery was nearly empty in true ThunderBolt fashion.

Apparently Phil is rough on his phones. I thought my Thunderbolt was bad because it has a scratch on the screen. Thankfully it's not that bad and it's not noticeable unless you are looking for it. If my Thunderbolt looked like Phil's, there's no way I would be able to give it to my mom.

Also, it's too bad NFL Mobile isn't working on the Nexus yet.

I actually took my Thunderbolt back to stock when I couldn't get the NFL app to work on CM7, so when my stock Nexus didn't work I was very disappointed.

So naturally the first thing that I did was unlock the bootloader and root it.

It's actually a relevant question. The NFL app only works over Wifi IF you have it on a device with a 4G data plan from Verizon.

I know this, because after I switched to the Nexus and activated it, the NFL app no longer works on my Bionic. Ditto for my OG Droid.

The app works over wifi regardless of what data plan you have -- but the device has to have some Verizon data service, 3G or 4G. It streams over wifi on any Verizon Droid. It doesn't work on your Bionic or OG Droid because those are no longer activated.

I already give Verizon enough money so why should I have to pay $10/ month to watch a mediocre quality football stream on my tiny Droid 2 screen. Also, who the hell is watching the Super Bowl on there phone anyways? Go out to a friends/ neighbors house and watch the game on a TV like normal people.

It's free on 4G LTE devices:

"GET NFL MOBILE FREE ON ALL 4G LTE DEVICES**

**Verizon Video monthly access fee waived for NFL Mobile during 2011-2012 NFL Season on 4G smartphones. Video subscription required for video content on all non-4G smartphones."

Some of us work weekends where there is no access to televised games! But thanks to NFL Mobile and DirecTV Sunday Ticket to go, I've been able to watch ANY game on my Thunderbolt (with grandfathered unlimited data)! :P

DOES NOT WORK OVER WIFI

IT NEEDS TO SEE THAT YOU ARE ON 4G, SOMETIMES YOU CAN START UP ON 4G , THEN SWITCH TO WIFI

UNLESS YOU PAY FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION, THEN IT PROBABLY WILL

You only have to sign up and pay for something if you want to stream live video (accept for during a few free preview weekends they've done). It works without 4G and over wifi if you just want to listen to a game or check scores. Streaming video requires a 4G data plan or a subscription.
