Instant for Android is an all-in-one tracking app that monitors your daily device usage, as well as fitness data and device unlock count. Want to know how many minutes you've spent on Facebook? Instant's app usage tab gives you an overview of time spent on each app.
Instant features a user interface that complies with Material Design guidelines, with the app itself offering a wealth of data regarding your daily usage habits. There's a widget as well that allows you to quickly check which app you've spent most of your time on. The fitness tracking feature involves integrates with Google Fit to track your daily activity time that includes walking and traveling.
The app allows you to set daily limits, and has a notification feature that reminds you when you're close to hitting that limit. There have been apps like Checky that allowed you to see how many times you've unlocked your phone, but Instant is trying to be the one-stop destination for tracking a host of device metrics.
Instant's creator Shashwat Pradhan mentioned that the goal behind the app was to create a contextually-aware lifelogging platform:
We started building Instant as an app to make the user aware of their device usage to cut down on addiction. At Emberify we have been working on contextual technologies so we integrated it, making Instant a lifelogging platform. Now users can track their entire day and quantify their time.
The app is now available on the Play Store. While device usage functionality is free, you have to shell out $0.99 on a yearly basis to access app usage. How many of you are interested in the kind of functionality Instant offers?
