Qualcomm teases 'Dual 8 Elite' chips for Snapdragon Summit: all eyes on 'Pro'
Looks like those rumors were cooking.

This morning (Aug 19), Qualcomm posted a teaser on social media about what consumers can expect from Snapdragon Summit in September. Based on the post, it looks like there's a pair of chips involved.
Qualcomm says it's preparing to reveal the "next chapter" in its "agentic AI era" at Snapdragon Summit next month on X. The meat and potatoes of this teaser are what it said after: "When Two Changes the Game." Qualcomm followed up this short blurb with a video that shows two unnamed Snapdragon chips. Connectivity and "advanced camera functionality" were highlighted as hallmarks for these chips.
An improved GPU with "immersive gaming experiences" was also teased. Qualcomm uses a short clip of gameplay from a game called NTE (Neverness to Everness). Qualcomm suggests that these advanced solutions will be present in both Snapdragon chips it has planned.
Following its Snapdragon Summit, consumers and the smartphone market should expect "twice the options" with "Dual 8 Elites." Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ends. Qualcomm encourages us to tune in to its Snapdragon Summit 2026 on September 22 to learn more. But we're not entirely out of the loop. While we are expecting the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, rumors say there's a "Pro," too.
Spoiled for choice?
We all know how much I care about the performance and graphical performance of a phone. It's a strong aspect for me that helps me make informed decisions. Qualcomm's chips can run games quite well. There are other factors here, such as the phone's hardware to help it out, but Snapdragons do well. Seeing Qualcomm tease even more graphical potential for a better gaming experience has me excited.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro rumors claim Qualcomm's additional flagship chip would be reserved for "Ultra phones." Immediately, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra comes to mind, and several phones from Chinese OEMs will likely make the cut, too. Early speculation claims the Pro chip could feature a 2+3+3 CPU arrangement. The specifics surrounding these cores weren't stated.
However, it will likely be built on TSMC's 2nm process. What's more, the 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could feature the Adreno 850 GPU. Qualcomm's latest teasers push its gaming potential. We'll have to see how well it fares with current games with higher graphics, particle effects, and more. All we can do is wait. Qualcomm confirmed in July that Snapdragon Summit 2026 will take place from September 22-24 in Maui, Hawaii. It didn't call out the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, but that's what we're expecting, alongside this Pro edition, since "Dual 8 Elites" are coming.
