OPPO is all set to unveil its 2027 flagship, and the brand has confirmed that the Find X9 Pro Max will be powered by MediaTek's latest 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro platform. It was a good bet that the phone would be powered by MediaTek silicon considering the last two models featured Dimensity platforms, and it's good to see OPPO continuing that collaboration into 2027.
Also, OPPO confirmed that the Find X10 Pro Max will debut globally, which is welcome news if you're interested in a new phone. While the X9, X9 Pro, and X9 Ultra launched outside China, continued availability of OPPO's flagships in western markets was always in doubt, so I'm glad the brand is clarifying global availability of its next-gen phone well ahead of time.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro is interesting in a lot of ways. It is built on TSMC’s 2nm N2P node, and it brings huge upgrades in just about every area. OPPO is touting a single-core uptick of 17% over the Dimensity 9500-powered Find X9 Pro, which is just ridiculous.
The 9600 Pro once again utilizes the all-big-core configuration, and it comes with two 4.55GHz Arm C2-Ultra cores alongside three C2 Pro cores at 4.3GHz, and another three C2 Pro cores at up to 3.1GHz. Cumulatively, they have 61% better energy efficiency, and the G2-Ultra NX GPU has ray tracing and utilizes Arm's new neural engine tech and is 27% faster while consuming 24% less power. And when it comes to on-device AI, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is 51% faster than its predecessor.
Clearly, there's no shortage of power on offer, and that is good news, as the Find X10 Pro Max is touted to have a trio of 200MP cameras. There's also the Laminar Flow Engine, and OPPO says it worked closely with MediaTek to tweak the "underlying rendering architecture and coordinating it more closely with system scheduling, the technology achieves a better balance between ultra-smooth system responsiveness and low power consumption"
I used OPPO's phones the longest this year, and a lot of that has to do with the groundbreaking cameras on the Find X9 Ultra and X9 Pro. There's also the small matter of the software, and ColorOS 16 has a clean design with great fluidity and customizability, and there's no doubt that the Find X9 Ultra is one of my favorite phones of 2026. I'm excited to see what the X10 Pro Max brings to the table, and it doesn't look like we will have to wait too long to see the device in action.
