In its quarterly guidance report, Samsung estimates it made an operating profit of 7.3 trillion won ($6.29 billion) from July to September 2015, an increase of 79.8 percent from the same period a year ago.

Operating profit from the mobile division is expected to be 2.2 trillion won ($1.8 billion), which is the first year-on-year increase witnessed in over seven quarters. Mobile sales amounted to 27 trillion won. Overall sales are projected to be near the 51 trillion won ($41.5 billion) figure, an increase of 7.5 percent from Q3 2014.

The semiconductor division posted a healthy growth, with the unit projected to earn 3.5 trillion won ($3 billion) at a year-on-year increase of 54 percent. With smartphones sales flagging, the manufacturer is looking to its semiconductor and display businesses to sustain growth. The weaker Korean won also contributed to a slight overall increase in Samsung's profits, as the manufacturer deals in US dollars for component sales. We'll know the exact figures later this month.
