To combat falling profits, HTC CEO Cher Wang announced that the vendor would launch a "hero" device in October, with the phone likely alleged to kick off a new product series. We've been hearing of a handset codenamed Aero over the last few months, with today's leaked images giving us a first look at the alleged design of the phone.

The phone in question looks quite similar to the iPhone 6, although the overall design seems to be an evolution of what we've seen with the One M9. With HTC criticized for largely retaining a similar design from last year's flagship, it is likely the manufacturer is opting for a flatter design with the Aero.

The rumors also suggest that the Aero handset will be marketed as the HTC A9, and that it will feature 2.5D curved glass at the front and an all-metal design. The handset is expected to be available in two color variants: Tyrant Gold and Dark Grey.

In terms of specs, the A9 will allegedly feature MediaTek's deca-core Helio X20 SoC, a 5.2-inch QHD display, 4GB RAM and a 3,500mAh battery. As for the leaked image, there's no way to know whether it is indeed HTC's next flagship, but with a supposed October launch window looming, it is likely we'll hear more details over the coming weeks.

Based on the leaked images, what do you guys think of the design direction HTC is taking with the A9?
