The recent bonanza of Android Wear devices is continuing with today's availability of the Sony SmartWatch 3. The Android Wear-powered wrist wearable is now available for $249.99, with quoted shipping times of 1-2 business days.
$249.99 puts the Sony watch on par with the Moto 360, though Sony's has a square display and integrated rubber strap, as opposed to Motorola's circular display, stainless steel case, and leather strap. What does give the SmartWatch 3 a leg up, however, is the inclusion of GPS. With that location-tracking hardware built-in the watch can, for example, track your speed and location while out on a run without needing to be hooked up to a smartphone.
Whether or not that inclusion makes the Sony SmartWatch 3 worth $50 more than the square-screened Android Wear smartwatches like the Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch, well, that's up for debate. Let us know what you think in the comments.
