Android Central App

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: We've uploaded a new version of the official Android Central App (accept no substitutes!) to the wonderful and bizarre bazaar that is Google Play, to be downloaded at your earliest convenience.

In addition to the standard (and unfortunately necessary) bugfixes and performance improvements, in Version 1.4.3 we've also added in an option for screen transitions. If you like nice fade, you can have one. Or if you're more into a zoom sort of thing, you've now got that option, too. Look for it in the settings menu under "Screen transitions."

As always, you can see previous changelogs at http://phon.es/achange. Enjoy!

Is it better to zoom out, or just fade away? Android Central app gets new transitions!

It has been my studied opinion that tis better to fade.

I don't really like any of them. The app is simple with a "basic" layout but to make it even greater you should employ some more dynamic transitions. Example: the Play Music app sliding transitions. Oh and please could you put the play link back into the title bar or make it a bit smaller in the body of the article. It takes away from the symmetry of the article IMO.

How about this...

When I put the app in night mode it's because I'm reading at night, so a white screen hurts my eyes. Yet STILL when opening an article it splashes a big fat bright luminous white page for a fraction of a second.

This has been an issue for as long as I've been using the app, ie a number of versions. Please fix it!

Other than that, great work on everything Android related!

I know what you're talking about with the white screen popping up during transitions, I see it too. It's especially noticeable if my connection is laggy but it's there all the time. A small issue, but hopefully they can fix it in the future. All things considered it's a really great app! (white screen and all)

Slide to the side like carbon for twitter does. Sickest exit animation i have used

Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I have window, transition and animation scales turned off. Therefore fade and zoom actually behave the same to me and both look like a quick flash which is not easy on the eyes. I won't be using either, sorry. Still love the app though. Keep up the good work.

Anyone else having blank pages come up in the forums? Say I go into Nexus4 discussion, click on a thread, everything comes up, but I just don't see any text. Just wanted to see if others were having this issue.

Something that is really bugging me about using the Android Central Forum app--and maybe it is because I don't know what I'm doing--is that there is no way to go from within a discussion thread to the next or previous thread without going back to the thread list and then tapping another thread. It would be a *huge* improvement to be able to swipe right and left to go the previous and next threads, respectively.

Am I missing something, or is this functionality (1) missing and (2) a no brainer that should be there.

To quote Neil Young (and subsequently Kurt Cobain), "It's better to burn out than to fade away."

Thank you for including "None". Simple, minimalist, and best performance!

Buy y u no beta test?!?! I like getting to try stuff before everyone else. ;)

Love the latest updates to the app so far!

Its better. That's it, the app is the best there is. So there you have it! Case closed! ;-)

Only big issue I see with the new transitions is the white screen pop up when using the Zoom transition while the content loads.

Fade transition stays gray while transitioning and loading content like you would expect. Much smoother transition to me.

I guess I'm used to the zoom style, although it would be interesting to see slide transitions.

Still need to add the ability to mark a forum as read, though. That is still missing.
