Google takes top spots in July for digital media, search, and video

Google's sites were the top digital media properties in the US during July 2015 according to the latest data from comScore. The company's various sites saw 234.3 million unique visitors during July across both desktop and mobile. Looking strictly at desktop usage, Google sites still come out on top with 202.5 million unique visits. On desktop, Google was followed by Yahoo, while second place on mobile was taken by Facebook.

In search, Google was the number one search engine in the US as well. Google was the engine of choice in 64 percent of the 17.7 billion searches in July. Microsoft took second place, with 20.4 percent search share. Yahoo took 12.7%, while Ask Network and AOL took 1.8 and 1.2 percent, respectively.

Finally, Google's various sites reached the greatest total audience in the U.S. of any online video properties, reaching 169.2 million unique viewers. This was driven mostly by YouTube, and in total Google reached about 31.7 percent of the US population. Facebook came in second, reaching 89.4 million viewers, while Yahoo took the third spot with 47.2 million.
