Samsung's latest teaser may be 22 seconds of the next big thing

We're not going to say we know what Samsung Taiwan is showing us here in this video. We have plenty of speculation — just like you do — but we've no idea what it is. All we know is that it just fits, and that it is simple, elegant and fast. Oh, and it is coming soon.

All that would fit something like the Galaxy S5,  or it would fit any new product. We won't feed that rumor, but we will enjoy seeing the video and hope a product that looks like this makes its way to a place where we can buy it.

And yes, that Galaxy Gear does have a date of December 9 showing.

Or do like one of my other favorite websites does and it randomly changes 'first' to another word or time stamps the post ahead a few days so you are actually last

So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

That is one of the sites I frequent

So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

Why?? I made a comment. I just happened to be first, soooo I wrote first. Big whoop dude!

Posted via Android Central App

Because it's stupid, annoying, and nobody really gives a shit that you're "first"

Posted via Android Central App

Agreed, they should delete the "first" comments. Right after they delete all Verizon bashing comments, especially the complaints about the logo every single time there's a new phone on Verizon-those comments are truly anoying.

As long as we can keep the Nexus bashing threads. If not I might have to go elsewhere

They should include a delete button so that we can just delete any comments ourselves that we don't happen to agree with...

Galaxy F series? Definitely looks like Samsung is getting serious about build quality.

Hmmm...interesting! Surprising that if there is some announcement on this Monday that rumors weren't flying around. I wonder what the crystal/diamond/sapphire (I'm no gemologist) has to do with it?

Sapphire display probably or at the very least Sapphire coated.

I think sapphires are blue. But with apple doing sapphire glass on their cameras it wouldn't supprise me if samsung used it on their glass just so they could stay ahead. Personally i think it would be worth the extra cost to have a scratch/break proof screen. If not sapphire then they probably have the ability to create a cheap alternitave.

Natural sapphire is blue, but synthetic sapphire can be clear. Watches typically have sapphire windows. They can be more brittle than glass, but are more scratch resistant.

Natural sapphires can be almost any color including clear. The sapphires used in electronics (watch faces, camera lenses, etc.) are man-made and are usually clear.

I'm not sure, what it could be. It's definitely way too early for a Galaxy S5 or similar flagship.

Could it be another version of the Galaxy S4? If it were, how many versions would that put us at?

I'm patiently waiting for someone to chime in and say that it's an iPad Mini on top of an iPhone 5, lol.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

It isn't too early to begin the hype for the so

It looks like the brushed aluminum like the One.

Should stick to the same type of back as the Note3

----------------------------------------------------
So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

I agree. However, if this is only to drum up hype for the future S5, then:

A: Why the date? "Hype," especially for a flagship not slated to release for several months, wouldn't normally include a date and time for reference.

B: Why the change from "S" to "J?"

Color me curious, lol.

Good points and watching it again it more than likely is the J.

The question is, where do you go with the S5 from there?

----------------------------------------------------
So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

That's a great question to ask. The S4's "downfall" was it being overhyped and not living up to people's very vivid expectations.

I almost feel as if Samsung releasing so many variants of their flagship causes people to have unrealistic expectations of future flagship devices.

Your right. If this is a world release model, it rivals the Note in specs, and that really leaves the S5 hanging in the wind as another tweener phone

----------------------------------------------------
So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

Yep. Having the note 3 for two months now I can tell you that the faux leather is actually really nice.

Posted using my Galaxy Note 3 via Android Central App

Agree. The back to the Note 3 feels great, looks great and was a really good idea to add a little extra touch to the back of the device. Why anyone would knock this considering all the fandroids want an SD card slot and a removable battery is beyond me. If they put Real leather on the back and it stained, they would complain about that too....

Can't please everyone. they could make the phone out of diamonds and titanium with 1TB storage, a 6000 mAh batttey, a 60 MP camera and someone would still find something to bitch and moan about.

On the side you can see sc-02f
google that and you will see it is the Galaxy J.
Youtube videos of it already from October which show same design

Good catch...

Also the number of times they use 'Just', with the emphasis on the J, it's obviously referring to the Galaxy J.

All in all the device looks pretty polished and the specs are decent too.

In the video there's an LTE logo on the back of the phone. The Galaxy J doesn't have that logo on the back.

If they go aluminum hopefully they dont cheap out on the alloys. The iphones aluminum is so damn soft, Id rather a tough soft touch plastic like the nexus 5 anyday then have beat up metal from the smallest bumps and nicks.

Samsung has the edge in display technology. AMOLED is far better for those in colder climates than LCD, and the fact that Samsung has been working hard to evolve it is a VERY positive thing. Samsung has the most features, MOST of them useful compared to other devices. It may require 3GB of RAM and more storage, but these things are NOT really expensive, Apple just wants you to think they are.

If you prefer a pop-up menu bar that takes screen space rather than giving us capacitive buttons on the edge of the device the way Samsung has, then fine, but don't claim the Samsung devices are just "blah". Anyone who doesn't put a case on a $600+ device is crazy anyway, and it means the build material means VERY little for the most part.

Everybody seems to be rating the Snapdragon 800 higher than phones with the 600. My guess is this will have a SD 800 (MAYBE 805) and 3GB of ram like the note 3, along with a metal frame.

Just wish they'd get rid of the one crappy little speaker on the back of the phone. Boomsound blows my old S4 out of the water.

Posted via Android Central App

Why? Apple is for tech illiterate morons and dimwitted victims of marketing, hence the higher adoption rate for iphone in the USA.

I'll say this...It certainly looks like it doesn't have a removable battery, and if canadoc is correct the pictures of the sc-02f agree with that speculation.

I can't stress how much I hope that Samsung doesn't go that route. Pretty much all other manufacturers have gone with a fixed battery solution, yet Samsung has continued to lead in smartphone sales.

After having my Galaxy Nexus for over 2 years waiting for a worthy upgrade I finally got the Developer Edition S4 when I saw that the Nexus 5 doesn't have a removable battery.

Some people might not think having a removable battery matters, but I love the fact that I'm the only one at school or work who isn't tethered to a wall all the time to use their phone while it's charging. And then there's the cases when I'm camping, or traveling in general. And external battery packs are bulky and need to stay plugged in to charge the phone.

I used to think just like you. Then I traded my S4 for an HTC One. My phone lasts practically all day. Stock or with CM. I don't miss my second battery except in those rare situations when my phone actually dies when I need it. However that's so rare for me that buying a mobile charger or charge case would probably be good enough.

I leave my LTE on at work. Usually gone 10-12 hours a day. Other than that I'm on my WiFi. Everybody has different experiences but I don't really miss my S4, and I've been a Samsung fan since the original Galaxy S.

Posted via Android Central App

And I actually used to think like you. :P After experiencing bad microUSB ports twice where the phone can no longer charge, a removable battery is a must-have for me now.

The first and worst experience was when the microUSB port of my EVO LTE stopped working while I was on a 10-Day Hawaii Cruise. I couldn't swap out the battery or get it fixed until after the cruise. :(

The other "dead microUSB port" experience happened with my current phone, the Galaxy Note II. It happened during my business trip in Alabama, which was in the middle of nowhere. (I swear it felt like I went back into time when I was there. I was kind of scary. :P) Anyways, there were no Sprint stores with Repair Centers near by to get the microUSB fixed right away, but fortunately I brought my charging dock that can charge the battery separately. If I didn't have a removable battery, I would've been screwed. I rented a car and relied on my phone's GPS to get me out of the scary place and take me back to the airport. :)

All new phones have wireless charging. I am so glad my N5 doesnt have a removable battery. There is no need especially since i get about 30 hours before having to charge. Its time to go with the times on this one.

No they make Damn good phones. The S4 was not a great jump but the S2-3 and all the notes are awesome

----------------------------------------------------
So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

Agreed, I believed it, too. my first android phone, first and last Samsung product. Plastic junk. Just ordered a nexus 5, Can't wait to throw this piece in the trash.

Posted via Android Central App

Bought into it with the S3 just as its allure was fading in Q4 2012 and now I'm hitting myself with a year left on my contract (with Verizon of all carriers). Never again, Samsung.

You bought the phone of the year, and a year later you are upset about it?

Short attention span...

----------------------------------------------------
So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

Phone of the year for you. Samsung is becoming like Apple in a way. They get a lot of mindless fools that buy their stuff. Its a great phone besides Touchwiz, crappy hardware buttons, long wait for upgrading. Its ok if you flash an AOSP rom on it but its still very ugly and still has those 2007 style capacitive buttons. Ill stick with the n5 as phone of the year followed by G2, HTC One and then maybe note 3 and s4.its liberating to be unbiased, try it.

But, you're not unbiased, lol.

You just called Apple and Samsung users "mindless fools."

Not to mention, attacking US iOS users in your previous comment.

Posted via my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

I'm actually a big HTC fan ..I have the HTC one and have just ordered the HTC max ..I found the galaxy note 3 to be over hyped you would think with 3gig of ram it would be silky smooth but it has lag and stutter ..and as for battery life ....I can't get it to last for a 12hr shift...I waiting to see if the max will..so the note 3..Will be on eBay real soon ..

If so, why the teaser video? Wasn't the Galaxy J already released?

EDIT: OK, so it seems like this is a teaser video for the Taiwanese Galaxy J launch event on 09 December. That answers that.

Although, the model number is one digit off (SC-02f: Galaxy J/SC-03f: Tizen) from being a Tizen phone.

Posted via my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

Wow this is exciting. Please Samsung don't make me fall out of love with my Note 3 just yet!

Posted via Android Central App

Watch it be some random ass lame spinoff that they call the Galaxy M or Galaxy A. (Metal or Aluminum.)

Posted via Android Central App

Looks premium but what's with the horrid speaker placement at the back? Thought they'd improve on that glitch.

Sent via the Android 5.0 MilkShake.

How does this look like a iPhone? Just because it has a metal does not mean it looks like a iPhone. Take a screen shot of this phone then download a picture of a iPhone and compare and then you can say if it looks like it or not.

Posted with the Android Central app

Brushed aluminium back, style of the power button, rounded off square corners. I'm not saying it's identical but it is very very similar. It's not in keeping with Samsung's current design language. I think Apple will be looking at this design quite closely. I do like it though. If it's as premium as it looks it's something that I would be very interested in.

Posted via Android Central App

I was scrolling down the comments to see if anyone else shared that thought besides me. First thing I thought looking at it looks like a larger iphone. Apple is goingbto have a field day with this.

Sent from my SG Note 2

and will it also be scratched as easily as iphone and having less android capabilities to be a iphone clone with the latest ios7? hence going back couple years in os.

Posted via Android Central App

World class security and the most stable mobile OS in our star system.

How's that flashlight app working out for you guys?

I truly hope you're joking, or it's quite clear you're just a fanboy lost in the dark.

Posted via Android Central App

It's hard to detect sarcasm, nowadays, especially in the comments section, lol.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

Agreed. For some reason, EVERYTHING looks like an iPhone, lol. I'm not sure, how the two could ever be confused.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

The iphone looks like a little toy for little girls with its pathetic screen and disgusting bezels. I dont know how you can say that.

This is the Galaxy J, at one point in the video you can see a serial number on the side of the device, SC-O2F, that is the serial number for the Galaxy J

I jus saw that. But, like I said in a comment above, why would Samsung do a teaser video for a phone that's already been released?

I think, we're getting trolled, and hard, lol.

EDIT: I found my answer. Please disregard.

Twice in the same thread? No drinking and posting.

I learned that the hard way

So where is the competition for the Note 3? Oh right there isn't any...

So the Galaxy J or is it could be a deliberate insert to get one and many into a guesing game-sure is interesting though and no doupt it is the J- looks and sounds goood- hope its heading this way (UK).

Posted via Android Central App

Sure does look good and im sure many have got their credit cards at the ready :-)

Posted via Android Central App

Metallic smartphone?
After all this time, that we had great devices with less heat and radiation, and more reception from Samsung, now they use this?
Please, Samsung, don't....
:(

Samsung has already and it WILL be a great device that im sure of, going by the brief video it the Galaxy J looks sweeeeeeeeeet :-)

Posted via Android Central App

Well, for all the crap that samsung gets for making plastic phones I'm not surprised if they come out with a metal phone and say "bam, ok, here ya go"

What ever it is..it sure looks goood! I have the Note 3..but next year I'm eligible for an upgrade. .:)

Posted via Android Central App

Im also liking Samsungs style-with this vid short-to the point and gets one thinking-well done-and yes im sure its going to be quite something :-)

Posted via Android Central App

What ever it is im sure of this. It's going to be awesome. Samsung doesn't stand still that's for sure.

Posted via Android Central App

If this is a GS5 tease, how come they are NOT using the micro USB3 port like the Note?

Sealed unit issues: It looks like a metal body, but the back may still open to allow the battery to be changed. Having just replaced the extended battery for my GS2, I am glad we can still do this; After two years the battery looses 20-30% of it's capacity. I also feel Samsung will probably want to keep micro-SD cards; many Samsung users value the option.

Going by reports it's not the galaxy S5 and its the Galaxy J or is this Samsung playing mind games and making out its the Galaxy J and in reality it is the Galaxy S5 either way its going to be great- is kind of odd that its not using the USB 3 port but that may change.

Posted via Android Central App

It's definitely way too early for the S5. It is the "J," though, for sure.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

Posted via Android Central App

To people who upgraded from the S3 to the S4 was there a good trade in program that you used? I wanna do that kind of thing with my S4

Posted via Android Central App

Its cryptic but that gem stone is indicating something with the screen facing down its obvious thats where another gem is-Saphire frontage or coated hmmm or something else-the screen is going to be durable me thinks. Monday and all will be reveiled :-)

Posted via Android Central App

It's on Sammobile. The actual video isn't, but they do discuss the invitation to the "J" launch event in Taiwan occurring on the 9th.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5

Except it has the Snapdragon 800cpu and 3gb of ram, and takes on a whole new design-and yet Samsung still gets grief from all be it the small minded select few-that now come out with Clone well bar the button placement the G2 is a clone of the S4 now you dont see Samsung whinging or amplifing that into a big deal.

Im certainly interested to hear what is reveled tomorrow. Be it the J which we can now be sure that it is or another product entirely.

Posted via Android Central App

I was gonna get the nexus 5 but I'm gonna wait a while see what developes with the GS5

Posted via Android Central App

well what do you know its the new ativ phone windows on a rise. and sad i just got a note 3 and now the new ativ is coming out.

WAY COOL!!! Can't WAIT to see the S5.. and with my contract expiring in July, the timing will be perfect.. LOVE my garnet red GS3, especially now that I have 4.3!
