Google is adding another big feature to Google Maps, real-time transit information, improving the overall experience for those who rely on it while traveling.

Google Maps gets real-time transit information

Google Maps is gaining real-time transit information, which will not only show you how long you have to wait where you are, but also other options in case you happen to be running late. Relevant journeys will be arranged and summarized in the Google Maps app, making the information easier to view and act on.

This real-time transit info will let you see live arrivals for buses, metros and subway systems—and even alert you to cancelled routes—so you can better navigate the intricate and unpredictable world of transit in major cities around the world.

Google is bringing the new real-time transit information to two new countries and four new metro areas as well. They already work with more than 100 partners to gather and display transit information, and they are now adding another 25 to the mix in some areas. These new features should be available to use starting later today.
