Google is rolling out new health cards in the Knowledge Graph, providing basic access to healthcare information in English and Hindi. Google Search will display the additional information when you search about common health conditions, highlighting typical symptoms, whether it's contagious, what ages it affects, and more.

Google is collaborating with Apollo Hospitals and Columbia Asia Hospitals to review the relevant content, which will include health conditions common to India like malaria and dengue fever.

With basic healthcare services still lacking across wide swathes of the country, Google's initiative will undoubtedly help millions of people in finding remedies for common health conditions. And with connectivity being a constraint, Google has stated that it will offer a lightview view of the health cards for those on 2G connections.

From Google:

Around the world, health conditions are among the most important things that people ask Google about. In fact, one in 20 searches are for health-related information.

We worked closely with a team of local and international doctors to curate and validate this information including Apollo Hospitals and the Columbia Asia Hospitals here in India. During product development we also consulted the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and ASHAs who are community health workers to ensure the information on the cards is useful and accessible.

The health cards will be available on the Google app on Android and iOS, as well as web searches on Google Search. You'll also be able to see high-quality illustrations, and download the instructions in PDF format.
