Amazon is now letting users browse and purchase digital content from its flagship Android app, which sees the addition of categories like "Apps & Games" within the list of departments.

Amazon mentions that the update went live last month, with the most recent changelog detailing the feature:

  • The new Amazon App for Android phones now enables US customers to discover and purchase all of Amazon's digital catalog, in addition to an award-winning mobile shopping experience on hundreds of millions of physical goods.

What this effectively means is that you can download content purchased from Amazon without having to first go through the process of installing Amazon's Appstore for Android. However, since the content provided by Amazon is outside the purview of the Play Store, you have to change your device's settings to allow downloads from unknown sources to be able to install content from the Amazon app.

What do you guys think of the move?
