Galaxy Grand 2

Samsung hasn't been shy about launching gold versions of popular handsets over the past year, and it seems the mid-range, big-screened Galaxy Grand 2 is the latest Samsung phone to get a new, lustrous finish. The golden Galaxy Grand 2 has been sighted over on Samsung's Malaysian and Indian sites, where the phone is sold for the local equivalent of around $340.

Aside from the shinier (and some might say polarizing) exterior, the Grand 2 packs a 5.25-inch 720p display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1.5GB of RAM. Unspectacular, perhaps, but Samsung might be hoping a fresh coat of paint will make the device a little more eye-catching.

That is utterly hideous, from the spray can gold colour to the the comfortable slipper-style stiching. Why Samsung, why?
