New Gear S2 Classic models to launch in February.
Samsung has announced an expansion of its Gear S2 line with new Gear S2 Classic models in precious metals. The new models come in platinum and 18K rose gold, and are due to launch in February. Samsung isn't saying anything about pricing at present, but it's reasonably obvious these new variants will be significantly pricier than the regular Gear S2 Classic, which sells for around $350. (If the 18K Apple Watch Edition is anything to go on, it won't be cheap.)
As part of today's Gear S2 Classic announcements, Samsung stepped up its designer partnerships for Gear S2 straps and watch faces, name-dropping straps by Colombo, as well as face designs from Keith Haring, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Jeremyville and Burton Morris.
Meanwhile the new rose gold Gear S2 Classic will ship with an "ivory" color genuine leather band, while the platinum model will ship with black genuine leather.
