So you say you just purchased a new Android device but it's lacking some of the eye candy similar to the Sense UI that comes standard on the latest HTC devices. In our forums, a question asked time and time again is "How can I get HTC's Sense UI on my device?" While we can not give you the real thing (yet), a great alternative is Beautiful Widgets, currently available in the Android marketplace.
Beautiful Widgets costs 1.18 Euros, approximately $1.39, and comes to us from
LevelUp Studio. It offers various widgets that is the closet thing to HTC's Sense UI that us Moto Droid owners will ever know short of possibly hacking the device. (Market link is to the right)
- Two nice looking flip clocks with 12/24 hours support
- Weather with realistic icons and animation
- Geolocation for the weather city, or the ability to enter the city name
- High res graphics for WVGA Devices (such as the Motorola Droid)
- 1x1 beautiful Wifi/Bluetooth/Plane mode/Silent/Vibrate widgets to easily enable or disable them
- 1x1 GPS widget that act as shortcut to enable or disable location in the settings.
One nice thing I have noticed while using these widgets is how the developer is constantly sending out updates; I've gotten three or four in a month. The past month the app has improved ten fold. Not only are the visuals very slick, the animations are now super smooth. Bottom line is we can not recommend this set of widgets highly enough.
If there are any improvements to Beautiful Weather you'd like to see or perhaps another widget all together be sure to check out LevelUp Studio on Twitter and send your feedback!

most important widget you can download to make your non-htc phone look pretty . . the clock is essential, and the weather animations are gorgeous.
+1million!
this was probably the first app i bought when i got my phone.
the animations are GORGEOUS!
Does this have the same issues as weather donate? With it, the time would get off sync and the weather did not update properly.
Love this widget set! Has updated three times today and gets better every time!
LOVE THIS APP! developer always improving...awesome!
best widget I use. adds a lot of style..
I loved this widget set until a recent update had it eating my Droid's battery up. Anybody have similar issues or know if it's fixed yet?
Bought this a while ago, and it works perfectly. Like the article says updates are always coming out. No battery life issues on my end.
This is not like Weather donate where it never saves your settings and always screws up the location. Like I said above it works perfectly, is very good looking, and definitely worth the cost.
Beautiful, whatever I paid for it, it's worth it. Lets hope it survives Android 2.0.1 where people are reporting Google's One box search wont move the heck out of the way.
LevelUp Studio, can you do a battery widget? Calender? Dialer?
my phone doesn't have any issues with moving or removing the google search bar.
I also have had no problems with the widget since updating to 2.0.1. I removed the google search bar the first day I had the Droid, and it didn't come back after I updated. I did not get the "offical" update. Not sure if that matters.
How the market link work??? Can someone explain me that.
I got this apparently the first day I got my droid (which was three weeks ago) and I absolutely love it!
I just dont get it.....why try to imitate? Why not just get the real thing? If you want your phone to look like a Hero, then get a Hero!
because the Hero has a tiny screen and is drastically slower? The only thing better about the Hero is its looks.
Agreed. Making the screen look similar to the Hero and going out and buying a Hero instead are two totally different things. We only want the UI look of the Hero we don't want slower, non 2.0 OS of the Hero
Honestly I hate it when people make comments like that, used to be same way with iphone themes on the BB. "if you want your phone to look like an iphone go get an iphone"
When are people going to learn that sometimes other phones just have cool UI features that you want in your phone without giving up the hardware of your current phone.
As much as I wanted to like this beautiful widget set: it really slowed down my Milestone. Flicking between home screens, opening the app tray etc. felt a lot slower with the weather + clock widget running :-/
This is one of only two apps (bedside clock is other one) I have bought so far for my Droid. It is great and I haven't noticed any slowdown on my phone.
I just downloaded this and I click to run but it says "no more room on home screen" what should I do???
No1 has noticed that the digits of the clock don't flip like the original clock on Hero? They just change without the flipping effect.
So I'll stick to my "Weather widgets" (also bought from the market)
Anyway to just get/purchase the one clock/weather widget that has the time and weather side by side? Is that a 1x4 widget?
HTC gave Level UP Studio a cease and desist order on this widget, so Level UP Studio took it down :(
If HTC is making a version that they are selling, I'm ok with this, but if this is just to make their widgets an HTC exclusive, then I'm really really angry.
@asierra_droid, It's a 2x4 widget, so you'll need at least half of your screen cleared off
@Ceger, the side by side one is a 4x2 widget. That will show up when your phone is in landscape mode.
So I have a g1 and cannot find this app in the market. lamee. is it still there?
i would like to buy it but its no coming on the list of the droid market no more :-(
Beautiful widgets is back.....please check again
good
thank you very very march
