HTC now has a pre-order date for its long-awaited HTC Vive virtual reality headset. A new report says that HTC has confirmed February 29 will be when pre-orders begin for the headset, with a wider commercial launch still planned for April 2016. A price tag has yet to be announced.

The report comes from The Telegraph, via a chat with HTC Cher Wang, who also indicated a shift in the company's business strategy:

"Yes, smartphones are important, but to create a natural extension to other connected devices like wearables and virtual reality is more important," she said.

HTC recently revealed the Vive Pre, the second-generation developer edition version of the headset. About 7,000 units are scheduled to be made available to app developers soon.
