Google has officially launched it Android for Work app on the Play Store this evening.
Google officially launched the program back in February, but today marks the official availability of the app in the Play Store for devices running Android versions 4.0 to 4.4.
If you're unfamiliar with Android for Work, Google first previewed the initiative during Google I/O in 2014. The goal of the program is to allow workers to use their personal devices for work tasks while also keeping work data and personal content separate.
Google The Android for Work app itself works by isolating and encrypting work data from the rest of the device:
With your IT administrator's support, the Android for Work app isolates and encrypts work data, including productivity, third-party, and internally developed applications. Use the Android for Work app to access all the business tools you need to get your job done.
Of course, the Android for Work features are built into Android 5.0 Lollipop, so today's release is only available for those running devices with Android 4.0 to 4.4 that are also working with Android for Work partner solutions.
