Samsung Fingers

It’s April 1st somewhere right? While not technically April Fools’ Day here in the United States, our friends in Asia, Australia and Europe are now enjoying the one day that pranksters love. Google has already done a handful of pranks for 2014, but now Samsung wants in on the action (and free PR). Introducing the first wearable glove - Samsung Fingers.

The Samsung Fingers is a wearable glove with a 3-inch wide flexible UHD Super Emo-LCD display. You also get a 16-megapixel camera that's hidden. Here's the full specs:

  • 4GB of RAM
  • 32GB / 64GB of storage
  • Built-in speaker
  • Built-in Mic
  • Various sensors including: Palm-rec, thermometer, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, RGB ambient light, gesture (IR), Heart rate
  • S Laser - Hidden beam projector with 1920 x 1280 resolution
  • 0.2mm thick
  • Weighs just 1g

You can control Samsung Fingers and do a variety of actions using gestures. Want to accept a phone call? Just make the Shaka sign with your hand wearing Samsung Fingers.

Be honest. How many of you would actually wear Samsung Fingers?

This is so silly that I wouldn't be surprised if one day it were to become a reality. Though, of course, it will never catch on until Apple "invents" it.

You really should see the crap I don't post. Sorry if honesty offends you

This is my personal opinion, but I think that this april fools joke by Samsung was lazy. I mean really? I think it would have been a lot more awesome, and really good publicity for them, if they had made a video. A video that showed off all these features.

Obviously you dont. And you don't have to use that language. April Fools is the day companies make a joke to get noticed. The publicity potential is huge on April Fools day. Imagine if they had made a video, think of how many people would watch that. It's the future! They'd say. It's all about getting noticed. It would be Samsung saying, look at what we came up wIth, and within 5 years, you can have one. It would say volumes to Samsung as a company.

Take Google for example, every year they come out with a bunch of these jokes, they make them feel real. It's helped define who Google is as a company, one that innovates, is constantly thinking of a new idea, things that might end up coming true.

I'm okay with Samsung not making a video, I was just saying that if they had, it would have been very beneficial, instead of just a joke.

It's not that big of a marketing tool. Google does it for fun. The only people who see Google's April Fools jokes are people who already go to Google for their search engine. They're not bringing in new consumers from this. IT'S JUST FOR FUN.

I think you're grossly overestimating the "publicity potentially."

The sad thing is I probably would have fallen for this had the post not said it was an April Fools joke. This should
have been posted as if it were real until the end of April fools day and then a follow-up article stating it as false.

All they had to do was show us a Galaxy S5 with 32 gb or 64 gb and I would have known it was a joke...

All I can think of is the iron man like holoprojection you could do with these. And, if you can hack the laser, you could put together a galaxy iron man armor.

Just think of the press!

“The truth is...

I am galaxy man"

I must be the only person who finds the joke funny. Everybody is taking this so serious. Lol

That would be so uncomfortable to wear. I knew it had to be a joke as soon as I saw it because the "flexible" displays of today are just not that flexible.

On the other hand I thought for a second that it may be some sort of concept of a product several years off. A product like this would be something Samsung would do.... And it would run Tizen os haha

Anyone look at this and think, oh man, I wish for a 16GB version for $12 less?

No? No one? Take the hint from your April fools division and stop with the freaking 16GB options on your $600 + phones!
