Following up on their statement that Android 2.2 would be coming to the Samsung Intercept in Spring, Virgin Mobile USA has now pinned it down to a more finer date. March 25, or around there is when it is expected to roll out to Virgin Mobile U.S. users. The wait is almost over now, delays be damned! [Twitter] Thanks, Travis!

Hopefully the devs will get ahold of it early and get a version out soon. I can't wait!!

Lol
A year late....some company's are a joke

amardeus says:

Don't forget that those on Virgin Mobile are also paying only $25 for unlimited text/data. And how many other phones are getting left out on your standard carriers where people are paying $100 a month. Samsung S phones are still not updated on American carriers.

ScubaNitrox says:

Don't laugh! My Captivate Still doesn't have Froyo and they haven't even talked about getting it! Now that is SAD! :-(

See how they at least put a date out there Sprint?

amardeus says:

Virgin Mobile is Sprint.....

TekWarren says:

Hrm...I have a LG Optimus V on the way for the wife because of the crap I read about the Intercept being a laggy turd. I will have to compare the two when my buddy gets his intercept updated. I am trying out VM because my wife is on an OLD sprint phone and been off contract for years. VM plan is cheaper per month and more minutes...plus unlimted data.

amardeus says:

My friend has this phone, it's not great but for $200 and $25 a month it's a very decent phone. When the 2.2 update is available it will most likely become even better.

When is virgin mobile coming out with a Evo version on those amazing plans? My wife have opms v and I love it. $25 a month is perfect for me. She got the $40 a month though lol.

joshua.worth says:

No real reason to care unless you already own this phone. The Optimus V for 149.99 is clearly the better spec and price wise. Unless the update adds hardware like a gpu don't purchase this beater that costs more with less

lmao how exactly is the optimus V better then an intercept? I dont own either but if i were to buy one, it probably would be the intercept

darktoy says:

They are both slick little phones but the Optimus One series including the V are shipped stock with Froyo 2.2.1, 512MB RAM and a 320x480 resolution screen compared to the Intercept which has 256MB RAM and a 240x400 resolution screen. Also the Optimus One series has a 1xEV-DO rev.A compared to the Intecept's 1xEV-DO rev.0.

The Intercept does have a light sensor which the Optimus does not.

This is the one thing i am a pessimist on. i really do not think Samsung will release this. I think they will continue to promise or "rumor" dates and in the end not deliver.

At first i blew off the rumors of Samsung holding the release for more money from carriers and they really wanted to entice you to purchase the next line of phones. I just dont know any more, and i am starting to lean more towards the rumors being true then just some guy/gal spouting off at the mouth (as what usually happens on the internet)

My co-worker had this with the $25 plan and it works great. Too bad I got stuck in my 2 year t-mobile plan last March or I will get one too.

I TALKED TO VM SUPERVISOR on 3/14 AND THEY HAD TO TALK TO THEIR SUPERVISOR TO ANSWER MY QUESTION:

WILL UPDATES BE AVAILABLE TO EXISTING OWNERS OF THE INTERCEPT?

THEIR ANSWER: NO, UPDATES WILL ONLY BE FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO BUY THE PHONE ONCE 2.2 IS AVAILABLE! THEY WILL NOT BE SENDING UPDATES TO EXISTING OWNERS OF THE INTERCEPT. BUMMMMMMMMMER.

Can someone please link to clear & simple instructions on installing 2.2 on Rooted VM Intercept?

The Update has been delayed-Again....

Originally they had tentatively scheduled it for March 25th, then was pushed to April 1st, now it appears to be April 4th.

Its' anybody's guess....

I am sure someone will post it here when And if it happens.

I have the optimus V and it's still running on the older android version (2.0 or 2.1) and I haven't been able to update it to 2.2.

I love the phone except for the lack of battery life and I hardly have any apps because it keeps saying I have no memory left for them.
