Oh man, I love the Oatmeal. And this comic. And Android.

ant this true apple does suck

You are just mad because Apple started what we think of as a morden smart phone.

and before you get your pantys in a bunch I own an evo. 4G

briankurtz79 says:

And after iPhone gets lte they will have started 4g too right?! Blah.

Dutchmasta says:

Learn how to type b4 talking trash on a company that makes some really cool stuff... I got an ipod touch right when they came out in 07. I was in college at the time and I would keep it in my lap during tests and google answers if I need to. Since there was nothing out like it at the time no1 thought anything of it. I love Apple for helping me pass college. I don't hate... Btw I use android. Sooo stfu with the misguided hate and appriciate competition because it helps us all in the end

This is hardly not safe for work and definitely not NSFL

Just like most other social situations, you can save a lot of drama by lying. I've had a ThunderBerry for a couple of weeks, now, and everyone seems to like it...

A thunderberry? You should go back to the bathroom and clean that thing off with some toilet paper.

PRetty much true. I say who cares. I have friends that own both android and iphones. Do I give a damn about it? nope. People are free to use what ever phone they want. Acting like this is childish.

p.Johanna says:

I love it. Most of the "debates" I've been involved in have began with the iOS user. It isn't childish, it is all in good 2011 fun.

deaofly says:

I have this issue with other Android users, I hate how people bash a phone because they have a diff one. I always hear people talk about how much better the galaxy is compared to my Evo, but my Evo plays games and apps good enough for me. Like with the Evo 3d, bash the phone for its 3d, then start talking crap about how much better the galaxy s 2 is. I just lol at them because I love the build quality of HTC devices and the sense Rom works great with me. That's my opinion but others feel they need to trash other Android devices. Its embarrassing.

Dutchmasta says:

Dude... that's like how most iphone users are. They don't understand that the iphone isn't the only phone that can do what it does. I have been seriously told by an iphone user to go get a real phone. I owned a palm pre and an ipod touch at the time. I showed the guy what I had and told him I know ios very well and much prefer webos for a phone os. His attitude changed quickly haha. So many iphone users are stuck up tech newbs

larrytxeast says:

I am sort of like person #1. I don't actually tell someone I know who uses iPhones "I thought we were friends." But I am not hesitant to state my opinion that, frankly, I am sick & tired of i-this & i-that. Online, I will even go so far as to say that I think Apple users are idiots. My Facebook profile photo even pictures Calvin (of Calvin & Hobbes) urinating on the Apple logo. I'm even considering having a T-shirt made of it to actually wear in public.

Growing up you'd hear people talk this way about makes of cars, one guy whom I knew who loved Toyotas but couldn't stand Hondas would say "I would rather kick a wild boar in the a-s-s than drive a Honda." That's how I feel about anything Apple makes. If I fell overboard & saw a life preserver with the Apple logo on it, I'd just about rather drown than have to accept that my life was saved because of a life preserver with the Apple logo on it.

My issue isn't someone having a difference preference from what I own (I just sold my Samsung Captivate and am "hobbling" on a Blackberry Curve, in anticipation of the upcoming Motorola Triumph on Virgin Mobile), so & so likes the Captivate, someone else likes the Droid X, or a Windows Phone--it doesn't bother me. My thing is I just don't understand why people are such lemmings to where they will buy anything Apple makes just because Apple makes it & no other reason whatsoever. I swear people would buy an "iToilet" if Apple made one. And you know how they'd make it--the water tank would be sealed up so you couldn't just open it up & "jiggle the handle" (like their products having a sealed-up battery), you'd have to order your toilet paper through iTunes, it would be overpriced--and the freaking idiots would swear it was "innovative" and would also swear that people used outhouses before Apple INVENTED the commode.

What a bunch of idiots.

RedBarchetta says:

ok larrytxeast, that was a good rant! iToilet reminds me of the "Steve Jobs and the iRack skit on Mad TV" Propagand and consumerism at it's best. brilliant!!!

Gameboy70 says:

There are plenty of cultists, but most of the people you see in an Apple store are pretty agnostic about their choice of hardware. I use a Mac Mini because I prefer OS X to Windows 7, but I use a Logitech keyboard and mouse because I can't stand Apple keyboard layouts. I never switched from the iPad to a Honeycomb tablet, despite my contempt for iTunes, mainly because I only use it for reading and writing, and I've worked up a good typing speed (65 wpm) that makes me reluctant to learn a new virtual keyboard layout without a typing tutor app (like TapTyping for iOS). But I'm all good with the Evo until I switch to the Nexus S 4G in a couple of weeks.

The point is, don't let online flame wars fool you into thinking that everyone is John Gruber. Many of us buy and love Apple products selectively.

caliskimmer says:

I don't understand. Why do people always assume that if someone buys Apple, they are idiots or fanboys or whatever? A majority of my electronics are Apple products and frankly, I don't support much of what Steve Jobs does. Why do I buy the products then? They just work better for me. I personally have a few issues with Android myself, but I will not tell others that Android sucks. Why? Simply because people have their opinions and that is fine by me (and also, how can you say an OS sucks when you've only tried it on 6 or 7 devices?). Why bother trying to change someone when they won't? Instead, work with them for a middle solution. Just in case, someone didn't bother reading the whole thing: I have an Evo as a cellphone.

Dutchmasta says:

There is nothing better than an ipod touch for a stand alone media player. I can play back music for what's seems like 2 days staight. Amazing batt life. Very reliable device. I use android for my phone too btw

ndwatkins says:

I thought about it for awhile...and I'm pretty sure I'm this person. *slinks off shamefacedly*

Smartphone users seem to be very particular about their devices and what platforms they use. I think we take it personally because having a smartphone is a personal thing. We take a lot of time researching devices and trying different platforms to make a decision about an item that is compatible to our lifestyle. When someone disagrees with our choices, we tend to believe they are judging us. So I get that part. What I don't understand is how someone could be so loyal to a platform and vehemently bash another and a couple of months later buy or use the very device or platform they were bashing and then start bashing the one that they came from. That's insane. I like Google and Android because I dig the philosophy behind it. But I can understand why others choose other devices as well.
