We've been playing around with Sony's new handsets here in Las Vegas over the past day, and we've brought you hands-on coverage of both devices. Now we've got a full gallery of the Z1s and Z1 Compact, along with the European Xperia Z1, giving you a complete comparison of Sony's current flagship lineup. Check 'em out after the break.

Sony's hardware is absolutely amazing. And, it's nice to see them introduce more handsets to the US market. It's also nice to see them release a compact version of their flagship, for those that don't want a monster-sized phone.

Also, Thanks Android Central!! Your coverage of CES is always nothing short of amazing!!

I agree with you. It is nice to see them move the chains on the 4.3 models. When Samsung put the mini out, I knew they were punting on it (lack of internals).

Said it before, say it again, they need a flagship on all carriers to really gain some traction.

Spot on with the AC coverage, so far so great!

I completely agree, their hardware is really beautiful. I'm excited to see it on T-Mobile.

Sprint Mobile rules!

Spot on, old chap!!!

Yeah, I can't wait to see how Sony implements it and how many devices it comes to.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

This article is about Sony's new kick ass smartphones introduced at the CES.

Perhaps you thought you were posting in the Sprint article announcing Sprint Spark in 6 new markets. And your tag team follower MERCDROID, as thoughtful as he is, spontaneously SYD out of habit.

Wow Jimbo, calm down!

I think NoNexus was mocking old Yarrell, who some time ago was criticizing anything not Sprint related (you know, the time he praised HTC all the time?), the same way he is now praising T-Mobile and Samsung.

Doesn't help new or otherwise busy participants when off topic, confusing, incongruous comment threads including personal banter are posted potentially devaluing Android Central's mission and focus.

Hmmm.....I consider myself a "busy participant". If I see something not relevant to my consumption, I vote with either thumb and swipe up to something I deem relevant. I suspect that new users will learn to do the same. If AC was written just for Jimbo, your post would be as relevant as the rest.

Damn, that hurts, lol.

Nope. You are extremely mistaken young fella - Straight Talk still has the crown !
Others are not worth mentioning . Period

?? You know what?!
Sony scuks monkey's balls !
Nothing beats (my precioouss) Moto X !

Those who have a problem with that FACT , are free to come out on a duel

Posted via Android Central App

My moto x is a nice phone but the camera has a lot to desire, and the Sony hardware is really a different class on its own!! I really hope it will be available in the GSM version soon!!

With the two tone look they have going it doesn't look plain and with their "skinned OS" it isn't simple.

OMG lol. Its just a "Richard inside joke"

"Plain and simple, nothing beats Samsung" ~Richard Yarell

Sony honestly wouldn't be one of my top smartphone preferences.

Seems like compact has better screen (viewing angles and calibration) than the other Zs and Z1s so just a cherry on top :-)
Their huge bezels, thickness and sharp corners are still deal breakers for me even w that 4.3in display. All others, enjoy it !

Posted via Android Central App

Yeah, and that's understandable. Hopefully, Sony's second take on a compact phone takes a reduction in size into consideration.

Can easily say the z1 compact has a better display than any recent Sony device. They've decided to ditch whatever else they're doing and put an IPS display in the compact. It shows.

Posted via Android Central App

It is a shame that Sony always makes the biggest phone (full package) when looking at the screen size.. why those big bezels. Yes the compact is a very nice phone but still the package size is quite big, much bigger then other 4.3 inch phones

Posted via Android Central App

No is not. I need bigger bezels to squirt my ketchup on. Where else would I squirt it on if I'm walking, but I also want eat fries and play candy crush.. On the screen itself? No, because I wouldn't be able to play candy crush.

That phone is ugly and has huge bezels. They need to step it up. Yeah, no it doesn't beat Samsung. I said it once numbers don't lie. With or without marketing Samsung will sell more and better phones. None of your whack phones like nexus, htc, Motorola, or Sony will come close to Samsung sales. So yeah keep talking and hating.

High sales doesn't mean it's better than other OEMs but if that's the case, then apple iPhones are better than every android smartphone (false) going by your logic.
By the way, how much did Samsung pay you or are you Yarrell? Yarrell is that you??

Trust me, that ain't Richard, lol. Richard's comments are short and to the point.

Who knows maybe there is a copycat out there already :p
Impersonator, perhaps. who knows. Mystery remains. :-)
However, Jerry should start charging all worshipers and bashers advertisement fees. I know it's impossible, but... I think that would be better than blocking.
People share opinions and the experiences in this space , not making Dogmatic statements (mostly off topic). Those ignorant enough or simply retarded to not realize that, should seek professional help.

Don't say his name. Maybe he's like Beetlejuice. Say his name enough (three times, perhaps?), and he shall appear.
Let's leave him out of this. I've already had it with Samsung fanbois

Posted via Android Central App

Yeah, let me rephrase that for you since you don't know what common sense is. Samsung is number one when it comes to android phones! Apple is completely different from android.... ios and android os are different remember? Sales are sales no matter what, if a phone is selling good is because people like it. Keep on hating!

Oh, btw I tend to ignore most comment. So, keep going with all your replies.. haha

You seem to come across as a more sensible person by bashing other manufacturers just because you're a Samsung fanboy.

Just to let you know, I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as my daily driver. Reason I got this isn't because it's 'Samsung' or they sell the most phones. I got this because it's the only device out there (at the time) that met my needs.

I think you need to come up with a more constructive way to express yourself and opinion rather than calling everything not Samsung crap. Grow up

Right on brotha

Keep fighting the good fight. I mean imaginary , but good for entertainment.

Apparently, we're all hating and lacking common sense, lol.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

aggresive marketing, benchmark cheating, and other dirty moves (like what they have done to HTC) is the key of samsung sucsesssss...

I love those bezels!! If only because it gives a place to grip the phone, and probably space inside the phone for Sony to pack all those internals without compromising like the other minis from Samsung and HTC ;)

Thank you for making a sensible point! No point in having a shorter phone if it means your hand is constantly cramped and/or continually pressing wrong buttons by accident.

Posted via Android Central App on my Motorola XT890 RAZR i

You and me,both. According to sony website, this bad boy is only available in black. Not much color choices to choose from. I'd buy day 1 if it was available in white. Oh well, I guess ill pick up the international version (C6903) in white and live with the less internal memory and pick up a 64gb sd card.

Very rectangular. I suppose minor changes like that are what makes a design "beautiful" and "innovative" though. It isn't like they can change a whole lot.

Firstly great job to AC for their coverage of ces. As to what Sony have produced a fine example indeed in keeping with the specs shows it can be done.

Posted via Android Central App

Besides the T-Mobile phone, are the other two phones going to be released in the US?

Posted via Android Central App

As they should be.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

I really can not wait to buy the Z1
Compact, And there seems to be some very stupid comments about bezels and thickness.

Before you start say something stupid about bezels or thickness maybe you can show me ANY 4.3" smartphone with (IP58/57/67 certification), (S800/Exynos/Tegra chipsets), 1/2.3" Camera sensor, and 2300 mAh battery or more.

And can you tell me why Galaxy S4 Active and Optimus GJ is bigger and thicker than S4 and Optimus G???
The bezels on S4 Active is little bit taller and wider than Xperia Z

There is nothing wrong with Z1 bezels and thickness, the bezels is about the same size as my GS2 125.3 x 66.1 mm vs Z1 Compact 127 x 64.9 mm.
And its thinner than Moto X 10.5 mm (2200mAh) vs Z1 Compact 9.5 mm (2300mAh)
I think Z1 series is great engineering achievement because Sony can put cutting specs, Large Camera sensor and big battery into waterproof body.

IP certification also much more usefull than small bezels because even without some protective case your smartphone will be available for you at any place from deserts, beaches, snowy mountains or rain forests.

There is nothing stupid about it. Not everyone is in the market for latest specs. It's a great phone and people should be happy with it. Since I use tablet and tether I don't care about screen size, sharpness and rest anymore. But I still want android that is clean and works flawlessly and has a great feel in hand and pocket. Moto X does it for me, that's all. BTW moto is as thick but only in the middle of the back , but where it matters it's twice thinner.

Posted via Android Central App

its stupid when people bashing about bezels Z1 series, because the size of the bezels is very reasonable it's waterproof phone and waterproof phone usualy bigger and thicker than normal phone just like S4 Active and Optimus GJ + Z1 Series also has large battery and Camera sensor.

"Not everyone is in the market for latest specs." yeah i know that because the main reason why a person don't buy a phone with the latest specification is "MONEY"

And if this what you want "I still want android that is clean and works flawlessly and has a great feel in hand and pocket." Nexus devices is wayyyyy..... much more better than moto x.

are you sure about this "but where it matters it's twice thinner" because the outside diameter of headphone jack socket is around 5 mm and the side of your phone is bigger than headphone jack socket http://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/pPvmcumZvpOHXefj.medium

You might really love your moto x but please stop saying something stupid,
And if we do a duel between the Moto X and Z1 Compact that soon I'll buy.
I'm sure at least Z1 compact will beat your moto x in terms of performance, especially for multitasking and heavy games, camera, durability, and battery life.

Oh man you took it all wrong.
First I didn't bash anything but simply said that it's not my cup of tea. Or you were referring to others. The bezels are justified and you made good points.
When it comes to Moto X it was the first phone that performs as any flagship that I could finally comfortably hold and use my thumb across the screen and w few features fitting my needs (as a driver) I wanted to get it even for 600$. Reason i waited was lack of 32 gb storage on vzw. Specs matter only to a certain extent and after playing with it for a few days I couldn't care less what was on the sheet.
N5 beats it in many ways that I don't care about, just as G2 beats N5 and so on.
It's thinner than N5 "where it matters" also, which makes more comfortable and easier for single hand use - I tried it. That is place is where you wrap your hands around the phone not where the top of the phone - right around the edges.
Sony def beats Moto X in point by point spec shootout and no one sane would argue that , but people with more modest needs and simple are more and more into experience and that's where Moto stands out , just like iPhone. Just because of those few feat, size and performance I'm willing to pay the same amount as for any "up to date" device. Assembled in US gets the extra from me. Motorola has one of the best radios and that what many people consider too - All of my Samsung CDMA did a poor job there.

I'm really loving the Compact idea. I hope it spreads. I'm sick of every single flagship now coming on 4.7 or more in size. That's nice for media consumption and gaming...but guess what? I need a phone. I would like to be able to use it with one hand without having to turn my fingers into Mister Fantastic.

Although it saddens me Sony didn't released the purple version of the Compact, it certainly looks like an awesome phone. I'm used to 720p resolutions and I doubt 1080p would be noticeable at all on a 4.3 screen. With the rest of the specs, they may very well have a big winner here.

The only thing that keeps getting on my nerves are low storage capabilities. I mean, until you can save apps and games onto a micro-SD card, 32GB should be the minimum standard. Oh well.

+1 for the Mister Fantastic reference, and I completely agree with you, regarding the storage options.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Nexus 5, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

Same ! :-)
I would love to hear OEMs explaining why installing larger storage is such a big problem ! 10, 20, 40 mp cams, 2k , 4k videos - wtf are they thinking. Bigger games, higher def music ...
What , to transfer files to PC every other day or upload to the "clouds" all the time w limited access ?!

Posted via Android Central App

Sony -- so boring, can't even imagine getting them. Nothing about them says why I should get them instead of a Samsung/LG/HTC etc.,

Change that effing' design and UI. It's older than even Samsung's designs.

Did I hit a nerve?

Obviously, it's good for me. I don't have to deal with you nerds who shout Sony this and Sony that every freaking min over a boring phone.

Hai guys in my decision,
The look and the finishing is totally seem like a apple 5s mobile
But, the farmor style of sony is also mixed and the difference is a brand and the os of the mobile
and it seems the touch is too be good compare to others because the touch looking so good
And, don't make our own decision in any thing so wait for it and see it

When it comes to software versions (not skin) there not too bad either 4.3 is pretty recent but personally I think LG is the worst especially with having 4.2.2 and 4.1.2 and I happen to sort of like songs skin

Im waiting Sony to release a competitor for Note 10.1 phone model. SPen and all those features keep me still using this phonetablet but definitely willing to abandon Samsung - the toymaker.
