Motorola Modality Services

Motorola is now pushing out the Modality Services update to its latest generation Droid and Moto X smartphones. Now available as a download through the Google Play store, Modality services is compatible with the Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini.

The Modality Services basically allows the Motorola phone to sense the phone's orientation and if the phone is on a table, in a pocket, or in a car.

Motorola recommends that users keep Modality Services up to date for best results with Active Display. This is the first time that we're seeing the Modality Services app in the Play store, but the service came pre-installed on devices. Motorola is now simply bringing it out to be its own app separate from the system for faster updates.

Apparently, according to the update itself, it now offers in-vehicle detection using ambient audio signal.

Very nice to Lenovo updating things. I'm sooo glad I got a Moto X. If it worked with the inline volume controls on my various earphones and headphones, it would be perfect in every way.
