Sprint confirms Galaxy S4 + Note 3 KitKat rollout, reveals plans for more Samsung updates

Sprint Note 2, GS3 and GS4 Mini among planned KitKat updates
Sprint has confirmed that it's rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, with both updates having gone live in the past month. Sprint's Galaxy S4 started receiving KitKat from Feb. 13, and was joined a week later by the Note 3 on Feb. 20. But those won't be the only Samsung devices to receive Android 4.4 on Sprint's network — the carrier also revealed plans to update the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Mega and Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, though there's no information on when these updates will be availabe.
If previous Samsung KitKat updates are any indication, Sprint customers won't be in for any major visual changes compared to the earlier Android 4.3 and 4.2-based software. Highlights pointed out by the carrier in its blog post include the new location menu, SMS in Hangouts and updated lock screen capabilities, including full-screen album art.

Just bought a T-Mobile Note 3 and couldn't use ES File Explorer the way I used to. Note 3 just got returned. My Sprint GS3 will get the 4.4.2 update, but it'll be the Knox-Free version from XDA...! Posted from my "KNOX-FREE" 4.3 Sprint GS3 Maxx...!!!

Edit: I will not be upgrading to 4.4.2 until it comes preloaded on my next device. I just can't lose one of the best parts of Android. Google, you might have just lost me to Tizen. Posted from my "KNOX-FREE" 4.3 Sprint GS3 Maxx...!!!

Like your SD card? Well, with this update, it's now useless. http://beranger.org/2014/01/30/how-kitkat-4-4-killed-android-and-google-...

LOL Samsung = the answer (I think LG fixed that stupid Google move as well)

Yeah, let's see how this update improves performance. Perhaps Jerry Hildenbrand made a good point when he wrote the following.
"Oh, it will break shit. It always breaks shit. " -
I hope the location menu changes go back to the 4.1.2 approach of letting me decide to use the phone network for location without having to also use WiFi. The current setup in 4.3 eats battery if you choose the network-based location option.
