Samsung Galaxy S5

Shipping for April 11 global launch

Last but by no means least when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S5, Verizon has put its pre-order page live at last. It will ship by the global launch date of April 11, and to pick one up you'll need to part with $199.99 – via a $50 mail in rebate – on a two-year contract or $599.99 without one. The Verizon Galaxy S5 is also eligible for the current buy one get one free offer the carrier is running, allowing you to pick up a second phone.

The pre-order page is now live and you've a choice of either the Charcoal Black or Shimmery White. Both come with the traditional giant Verizon 4G LTE logos on the back. But at least the front looks clean. Who's ordering?

Black looks pretty good from the front..not so good from behind.

And probably €599.99 in europe (netherlands) because everything is cheap in the US...

Except, well, the cost of service.

nikkisix798 says:

yeah, for lazy and slow service.

steveb24 says:

Price in US does not include sales tax, which can add another 5-10%. UK and Euro pricing usually includes some kind of VAT already right? So the difference isn't quite as large as it seems.

makie says:

Yea thats true. Tax included here.

Lucky me, I live in New Hampshire so I don't pay a sales tax for basically anything besides prepared foods.

hermond says:

We already know the price in NL, it is €652, at least for now. The M8 is even more expensive, €664

For a 16gb (essentially 8gb after bloat)? Nope

More like 11gb..

Raptor007 says:

10.8GB but close enough.

nikkisix798 says:

you can buy 16gb SD for $15. still better deal than paying extra 16gb for apple products right?

Raptor007 says:

sure, but you don't get the benefit of actually having 32GB (minus formatting and OS) internal to the device. This is not the old anDROIDs you are looking at its the new Kit Kat 4.4.2 which does not allow for apps to be put on the card. So there is a problem that gets swept under the rug by sales people and uniformed users alike.

I wonder why T-Mobile's S5 is $60 more than Verizon's?

Posted via Android Central App

TheMimic12 says:

I wouldn't have any idea. Especially because you could use a Verizon s5, same LTE, on T-Mobile

steveb24 says:

Oh really? What about non-LTE areas? Does it support TMO EDGE, 3G, and HSPA+ bands?

Be Use they offering such cheap service that they have to make up the difference somewhere

You really should see the crap I don't post. Sorry if honesty offends you

Raptor007 says:

Could be the radio's that go into it cost more, the pricing they negotiated with Samsung or just profit.

A radio is a radio, it's profit

T-Mobile always overcharges for their phones. Love 'em and I've had nothing but a great few months using them but when I went in to switch I also wanted to move from Note 2 to Nexus 5 or LG G2, the T-Mobile rep tried to sell me the Nexus 5 16gb for $400 and then tried to tell me after I said it was $50 too expensive that I was confusing it with the 8gb version which is cheaper. lol.

I understand that I'll be paying more for it if I essential finance it by paying them monthly with my bill but even buying outright, full payment upfront, it's more expensive. If I'd financed my final total would have approx $480. For the 16gb version. What a jip.

woot. got me a nice white one off contract!

rampage1979 says:

That's a good price point for the 16gb model hopefully the 32gb will be $649 or less.

Raptor007 says:

That is what I am waiting for, 32GB Black and won't budge and fall into the 16GB trap. We have to wait, what maybe a month or two or never knowing Verizon. It won't be sold in store, they can order it or you have to go online.

the1m.polo says:

I'll get mine in store, to do a side by side with the M8.. Giving the M8 one a final chance before I trade in the M7

NoNexus says:

No need to, wait for the m9 I'd you really want htc

the1m.polo says:

Yup! But since I'm on the edge program I'm gonna pass on the M8 and go with the S5 ... Trade in my M7 with half of it paid off ... It's not going to cost me anything.. I refuse to pay off a phone on the edge program.. that takes 2yrs... And for that I should have just did the $199 for 2 years.. I like edge because for $300 (half the balance)I can get a new phone every year...
Posted via Android Central App

Raptor007 says:

Edge program is worth it, if you have a 10GB plan. $25 off the $40 service so its $15 a month to access, $100 for data (minus my corp discount) and $24.95 a month for the 16GB. So the phone is essentially free compared to buying it on contract at $200 + $40 month access + $100 10GB data.

The guy who was upset with the HTC one buy one get one free will be relieved to know that the same offer applies for this.

thegrants82 says:

Oh we all know they will let it out after after a few weeks. If they told eveybody they were holding back the nice ones then nobody would be forking out 600 for the little 16gb models......works like this every year. 16gb models are useless IMHO.

ibcop says:

Just get both - I am. Well, the S5 and whatever "Prime", "F", or whatever they call it.

DS1331 says:

Lol brag much? Most people don't have that kind of money, and if they do they spend it on more important things like rent and food. Me, I'm an idiot and buy a new phone every 6 months

Posted via Android Central App

The best time to buy a new phone is usually around Christmas time. I got a s4 last year for $50 on contract.

the1m.polo says:

Yea but by then I'll be excited for the M9 and S6 ...

yeah actually I was expecting $699.

dsignori says:

So any word on if Verizon is going to carry the 32 GB version ??

Raptor007 says:

Gotta love Verizon, last to the party, AGAIN, no 32GB announced, AGAIN, likely won't sell the 32GB until at least 30 days after the 16GB launches, screwing customers who wanted the 32GB, AGAIN. Go figure its Verizon, its the network.
