Announced on March 15, 2016, the PlayStation VR headset from Sony is set to launch in October for $399. The unveiling came during an event at the Game Developers Conference, where Sony also showed off some titles headed to their VR offering. The headset will be sporting a 5.7-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The VR will have a resolution of 1920x1080 at 960x1080 per eye.
Sony also noted that the PlayStation VR will require a PS4 to use, rather than a meatier PC like rivals HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Sony will be offering up a VR bundle as well, which includes the PlayStation VR headset & necessary cables, a PlayStation Camera, two PlayStation Move wands, and the WR Worlds mini-games — all for $500. This is a fairly large savings over purchasing all of the included items individually, but keep in mind that you'll still need a PS4 console as well, boosting the price up to over $800 in total.
Pre-orders for the bundle began March 22nd at participating retailers. Units are set to be available on October 13th.
