Limited edition PlayStation 4s can be hard to find, but that's no surprise – they're limited, after all. These consoles tend to be on tap for the most hardcore of fans who will buy them day one to add them to their collection and ensure themselves a unit. Let's take a look at them!

For hardcore fans: Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 Pro Bundle

For those who don't care about the bragging rights of being the "ultimate fan" or who don't care for Funko Pop! Figures, you can still pick up the limited edition Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 Pro without all of the unnecessary extras. It used to be available only at GameStop, but if you want to pick one up you'll need to pay a higher price now over at Amazon and import it from Japan.

Extremely rare: 500 Million PS4 Pro

Sony has revealed a new limited edition PS4 Pro to celebrate a huge milestone: over 500 million PlayStation consoles have been sold since the original's debut. What we have here is a translucent blue PS4 Pro. The tint on it is a bit high so you'll probably need a fair bit of light shone on the thing to get a good look at its internal bits, but it's a pretty cool look. Since only 50,000 were made, you're going to have to shell out some top dollars to pick one of them up now.

Happy birthday, PlayStation: PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition

Are you too young to remember the original PlayStation? Or maybe you just want the nostalgia of holding your childhood console again? With such high demand for the Anniversary model, finding one in new condition has become more difficult (and more expensive).

Obnoxious red: Spider-Man PS4 Pro

With Spider-Man being a PlayStation 4 exclusive, you had to guess that Sony would be making a special edition bundle for it. The controller's dominant color is also red and features white buttons and analog sticks.

For the players: 2018 Days of Play PS4 Slim

This is one of those special PlayStation 4 releases Sony likes to put out "just because." Days of Play is their celebration of PlayStation gamers. It's typically celebrated with a nice big corporate sale, but also with a limited edition PlayStation 4 release. This 1TB PlayStation 4 Slim has a deep blue finish with PlayStation's iconic DualShock controller icons in gold lettering on it.

Inferno Squad: Star Wars Battlefront 2 PS4 Pro

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 PS4 Pro is one of a kind with its iconic markings and Star Wars logos. The base of the console is the same Jet Black finish you'd find on an ordinary PS4 Pro, but that's OK. The controller also gets some love here, with Star Wars-themed markings on the handles, as well as a trippy-looking Star Wars logo matrix on the touchpad. The downside: You'll likely need to purchase it used.

Lots of dragons: Monster Hunter: World PS4 Pro

What better way to fight monsters in style than with this limited edition Monster Hunter: World PS4 Pro. The case is adorned with an awesome dragon-type monster, and the DualShock 4 controllers come in a dark red color along with various series emblems. If you want this one, though, you'll need to import it from Japan as it was exclusive to that region when it first released.

Diamond Dogs: Metal Gear Solid 5 Special Edition PS4

Inspired by Venom Snake's robotic arm, this bad boy features a sleek maroon color, the Diamond Dog logo, and a line of gold trim running down across it. Needless to say, if you're a Metal Gear fan and have some extra money lying around, this is certainly something you'll want to pick up, even if you can only find it used nowadays.

Fit for a god: God of War PS4 Pro

Of course the highest-rated game of this console generation has a limited edition model. Kratos leaves his mark on a God of War PS4 Pro that comes in a stunning silver finish. The markings on the console are inspired by the axe he uses throughout the game. The controller also comes in that same silver finish with a God of War-themed insignia and a tricked out trackpad.

The Taken King: Destiny PS4

While Destiny 2 has taken over as the hot new space shooter to get, the original limited edition Destiny PS4 console is still a hot find. Sony went with a white backdrop here with etchings depicting topographical space map to make it look busy. There's a nice big Guardians' banner up front, with a Destiny logo situated in the upper left corner.

Royalty: PS4 Slim Gold

This is one of three consoles on this list not associated with any particular game or Days of Play. The golden PS4 Slim goes for a look of sheer elegance. It's not actual gold, mind you, but the shade used by Sony throughout the console and its controller is just stunning. Put this one beneath an OLED TV to really pull off that rich living room effect.

Camouflage: Call of Duty WW2 PS4 Slim

Fans of the armed forces (or those who simply have an unhealthy obsession with camouflage) will love the Call of Duty WW2 PS4 Slim model. The forestry green chassis could sit inside a jungle undetected with how authentic this pattern is. But perhaps it's better off just looking cool on your entertainment stand.

Noctis and pals: Final Fantasy XV PS4 Slim

The design on this limited edition PS4 Slim captures the essence of Final Fantasy XV quite successfully. A full moon blends into the Jet Black chassis of the console, and the Final Fantasy XV logo can be found square in the middle. Perhaps the coolest thing is the lettering beneath the logo - the names of all four main protagonists.

Gotham's finest: Batman Arkham Knight PS4

You either die a hero, or see yourself live long enough to become the villain. Well, we're not sure if the few years that the Batman Arkham Knight PS4 has been around can be considered long, but it certainly is no villain. It's a desirable gaming machine with one of the most iconic comic book characters ever created represented here, so it's little surprise you can only come by one used.

Nathan Drake's final adventure: Uncharted 4 PS4

It's odd that there aren't many blue PS4s considering that's Sony's signature color. As is always the case, though, Nathan Drake is here to save the day with a pretty interesting "Gray Blue" shade of it on this Uncharted 4 PS4. It features pretty cool silkscreened artwork and the Uncharted logo in gold lettering.

The ultimate package: Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4 Pro Ultimate Fan Bundle

Nuk3town: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PS4

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's version of the PS4 goes all in on the Nuk3town orange highlights. The console itself cheekily shows the roman numeral three as it appears on the cover of the game, while offers a nice contrast of carbon gray and nuclear orange. It's bound to make someone's eyes hurt, but if you are in love with the colors, then it may be worth the risk.

Consoles and collectibles

We know how tempting it is to pick up a limited edition anything, so it's a shame if you miss that window. However, if you happened to miss out and you just want yourself a limited edition PS4, you aren't totally out of luck. Sony still offers a couple of these things at retail, while there are a few others you can snag from third-party merchants if you don't mind going off the beaten path.

If you're not looking to break the bank but still want a nice collectible, consider picking up the steel black Days of Play PS4 Slim to show off your PlayStation pride in style. Not only is it a beautiful limited edition console, but it's also one of the cheapest that you can find.

For those who want something with a little extra power and are considering a PS4 Pro, pick up either the 500 Million PS4 Pro or the Spider-Man PS4 Pro. The 500 Million is definitely more expensive, but well worth it for serious collectors. The Spider-Man PS4 Pro, on the other hand, gives you a much more affordable limited edition console, even if it still costs more than a basic PS4 Pro you can pick up in-store.
