120 Sports, the pro sports news and streaming video app that made its debut on iOS and the web a few months ago, is now available for Android devices via the Google Play Store and is aiming to give ESPN and other major sports news outlets a run for its money, at least on the Internet.
120 Sports is a collaboration between a number of media outlets and pro sports organizations, including Time Inc, MLB.com, the NHL, Campus Insiders, the PGA TOUR and Silver Chalice. The Android app is supposed to offer a new way to catch up on all types of sports news. The company says:
The 120 Sports app provides users with an all-encompassing multimedia experience through a new platform built to intuitively integrate video and data in ways they haven't experienced before. These newly-developed Data Cards will feature the interaction of data, social sharing capabilities, live play-by-play access, photos, game and player stats and have been built for fluid navigation with easy-to-use controls while leaving the live and on-demand viewing experience uninterrupted.
The app also provides users with streaming video programs featuring hosted shows, highlights and more, with 10 hours of live programming each day in the morning and evening hours. What do you think of 120 Sports and could it replace ESPN or your other favorite sports news app on your Android device?
