Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung dropped word tonight that it's pulled the Android 3.2 update being pushed out to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 after a number of users reported problems, including Wifi connections being broken. Here's Samsung's response:

“Samsung is aware of an issue that some Galaxy Tab 10.1 customers have experienced with today’s software update. We are working on a resolution and will provide more information shortly. In the interim we have chosen to discontinue availability of the update.”

Hopefully we'll see a fix -- and a fix for those who already applied the update -- shortly.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 update pulled

In the meantime were completely boned, with a 10.1" paperweight..

Good thing I don't NEED it for work....oh wait I do.

Look at all the troubles Samsung had in the past with updates, I don't believe it has any QA department. Why pay for a QA dept when you can have general public do the QA for you for free?

What if I have the update downloaded but not installed? How can I kill the update file I already have so my Tab will be ready for the next one?

Yeah this updates blows. Wifi does work under static ip but auto rotate is still broken and the thing that frustrates me most is i cant stream video files through youtube or embedded flash and any html5. Skype works and any files on the device works but thats about it.

If your wi-fi failed to get DHCP IP address, the update process didn't finish. That's why you have so much trouble with other broken pieces because you have a mixture of old and new binaries. For those finished update successfully, none of these problem occured. Your tab is now in a zombie state (neither 3.1, nor 3.2) until Samsung comes out a fix for you.

You can fool the auto-update.

I am stuck with this update too.

To get your tablet in portrait mode:
1. Settings
2. Screen
3. Horizontal Calibration

This will turn your tablet to Portrait mode and you can exit from settings.

To get your tablet to landscape mode:
1. click on market.
Once it loads, exit it.

I know this sucks, but until they provide another update, we will have to use the work around.

as for killing the update file you should be able to clear out the information for that in settings>applications>manage applications>all>software update i think

Awesome! That was it exactly! You go in there and then you can click [Clear Data] button which wipes out the update file. Thanks a ton!

So when they come out with a fix, do we assume that it will be available through the Kies system via direct connect to my computer since the Wifi doesn't work now? Right now when I hook my Tab up to the computer and open the Kies software, it says that my firmware is not upgradeable. This is the first problem I've had with the Tab since we got it a few months ago. Frustrating...

Another question, how will we be able to update, when Samsung releases an update to repair this....

no wifi (tried static doesnt work at least for me)
KIES your device does not support software upgrading via KIES

Samsung better be ready to send out some replacement tabs because my tablet isn't working wifi DHCP AND STATIC do not work for me screen rotation is wack and I can't even sync with kies and if it does I says my device isn't upgradeable they kies

Are you sure you set up the STATIC IP right? I have a borked tablet with all the errors present but static ip wlan works like a charm. Heres my setup, depending on your network you might have a different ip range: http://i.imgur.com/2cGa3.png

Hope they provide a fixed update soon, having no streaming video sucks.

I hope they come up with a fix soon. My wife is going to kill me!!! I've got the static IP all done and it will connect, but getting it stuck in portrait mode is irritating - especially when it sits in landscape mode in the dock. I wish their tech support hadn't made me wipe the device, but alas it's all gone now...

Messed Up by 3.2? Here's a Way Back
this is not for the fainthearted - but if you are tired of not having a workable tab want to get back to stock - there is actually a simple way to do it - caveat - do so at your own risk - but if you screw it up, you will be needing to get it fixed anyway for Samsung's 3.2. Note this does NOT root you so it should not break any warrantees - again proceed at your own risk- but if you are adventurous:

a quick overview of it is to get your tab into ODIN mode and use ODIN to reload a copy of the stock image to your tab. This erases all of your previous data but you can reinstall those later. But at least it gets you back to a working tab

1) Download this file - MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K5IYSBTY

2) extract the file
you should have the following
a file called GT-P7510_USB_Driver_v1_3_2360_0-Escape - this file is the USB driver for your PC, if you don't have the driver installed already, run this
a folder named Odin3 v1.85 - this contains the ODIN executable file
a folder named KME Odin - which contains 2 files - android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.pit" and a "P7510XABKME_P7510UEKME_HOME.tar"

3) Power down the tab
4) press POWER and Volume Down at the same time until it powers up and you should see 2 logos - USB and triangle
5) press volume down to move the selection to the triangle
6) press volume up to lock in selection. You are now in ODIN/download mode

assuming all your drivers are installed to your PC, plug in the tab via the USB to your PC
run the ODIN executable
only Auto-reboot and F.reset Time should be ticked
after a minute, the ID:Com box should turn yellow -if not you may have driver issues (try this driver http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDow...oad-96692.html)

7) tick PDA and click the PDA button and navigate to the KME Odin folder and select "P7510XABKME_P7510UEKME_HOME.tar"
8) select the PIT button and navigate to the KME Odin folder and select the "android_fastboot_emmc_full_p4_16G_32G.pit"
9) Select START

it should start writing the image to your tab and once done, should reboot you back into stock

in case you want to go ahead and flash 3.2 -

use this pit file - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1321486916

and use this for the PDA http://hotfile.com/dl/135008863/06ca....html?expire=1

Catostrophic failure, yep , right after application of this update was installed in my galaxy 10.1.. the first time the screen timed out on power settings, My tab would no longer work at all !
upon a closer look i found that the screen has a burned blotch right in the center of the screen. nice update samsung !
