Just look at the way the light glints off that heartbeat sensor...

Step aside, Academy Award winners, there's something more important happening on TV tonight: Samsung's aired their first commercial for the upcoming Galaxy S5 smartphone. The S5 might be several weeks out still, but that doesn't mean the marketing blitz can't get underway. After all, there's a 5.1-inch HD screen and heartbeat sensor to hype.

Apart from the 30-second dramatic teaser, Samsung's also put up a 90-second "Amazing Things Happen" video that covers everything that Samsung offers with a screen, and apparently "You need to see this." Well, you can see it after the break.

Update: And later on in the evening, an ad for the Tizen-powered Samsung Gear 2, in much the same vein as the Galaxy S5 ad. Check it after the break.

Yes. Thanks.

I still don't like the looks of the phone. But it is a great improvement from the s4. The note 3's faux leather looks nicer.

I do really like the faux leather, but I don't think I'd mind the finish on the S5. But, I have no intentions of seriously considering it.

I agree. I hate the back of this phone. I think the leather look is really nice.
I hate it so bad, that after seeing it, I want to get another moto x.

I don't really care what the back looks like, I'll slap a case on it while I'm still in the store. But that dual connectivity is really got me wanting this phone. The camera isn't half bad either :)

I agree with you on your opinions on the back of this phone. It actually doesn't look *as* bad in the article photo, but still...

iCoolio says:

Haha.... that's so funny but it gave me a great idea. So I'm going to suggest to Samsung to partner with Band Aid to do a promotion. There are so many songs about Band Aids and they are good. Samsung has had Band Competition and used them to promote new up and coming bands. They've also sponsored Special Olympics at their own cost along with supporting the Jamaican Bobsled Team in the Sochi Winter Olympics. So why not put that Copper Gold Galaxy S5 look to work for them. Have a Global Band Aid Contest to Discover New Bands!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVape0kGNF0

There's even a Kpop Kdubstep review channel on YouTube that talks about Band Aids. It's funny too..... Samsung could take this Band Aid thing, hire Pixie Lott and other singers with songs about Band Aids, so they shove the Band Aid comment down all you Appleholic iDiot's throats. Besides..... I'm going to laugh if they change up the back cover design for when it goes on sale. Which should shut you all right up! lol.... not to mention I think they should really make a green one with an Android eating an Apple on it! ;-P

HTC made one of the best android phones ever with the One, but due to bad marketing none of the normal people knew about it. Now that HTC got hardware down, they need to get people to buy them.

For me personally I have an S4 but I wish I would have held off a little for the moto x. I prefer vanilla android and I will most likely get the next moto x.

Who you mean the storage issue.. Early news was that less than 8gb of the 16gb was available but new news have shown that it comes with 10.7gb which is more than the s4 9gb.not bad and not too far behind the nexus 5 which has 12gb.i would happily give up 1-2gb built in storage for sd caed

samsung gotta give it to em their commercials are so amazing, its a shame they don't give a lot of credit to the folks that slaved over it for months.probably make it up to them in paychecks, but aside from that they rope ,millions by the commercials alone but its up to us to look into specs and compare("we are the few"-fellow androidcentral peeps),. i was gonna get an htc one, i wanted it over all the other phones i was comparing: moto x, G2 , nexus , and the sony phones as well, till i saw the specs for the note 3 and it won me over. so its all about preference

Nothing to write home about as far as I can see. Great products for some, worthy upgrades for others but my money will be spent elsewhere.

"You need to see this" is a good tag line. A positive tone about the benefits of products, without attacking Apple is good. At least the adds are good.

Time will tell abou the products shown, but I am not tempted by Apple iOS even on tablets any more, which is good news for Samsung.
