Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

It's been just a couple weeks since we saw the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 with AT&T's brand of LTE on board swing through the FCC, and today it's official. AT&T will carry the Galaxy Note 8.0. With LTE. "In the coming weeks."

No word on an exact date, or pricing.

Basic specs stand as have have for the version we previously reviewed, with a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos 4410 CPU with 2GB of RAM. It ships with Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) running Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. Also included is support for 802.11 a/b/g/n (in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz modes) Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a sensor package consisting of a gyroscope, an accelerometer and a compass.

Be sure to swing by our Galaxy Note 8.0 review for the full rundown.

A pity it doesn't support pentaband GSM. Really want to use this on Mobilicity (while I can). Will wait for the next generation Nexus 7.

Scott Kenyon says:

I'm strongly considering picking this up.

Exactly what I expected from AT&T. They stripped the phone feature and the hardware phone speaker from it. The other Asian LTE SGN8 has it. So now there are 4 versions of the SGN8. WiFi, 3G, and two different LTE versions. Seeing as they are the U.S. exclusive carrier it looks like the Canadian version is the only other phone capable possibility left. Hopefully for those who want it, someone in the community might be able to bring the phone feature back to it. But with the ear speaker missing there's nothing saying that the internal hardware won't be missing as well. Time will tell.

I don't think that any tablets in the US have a functional phone app. Does the Google Voice/GrooVe IP combination not work for you?

NFLPLAYBOOK says:

No tablet in North America has it. It's been a while since I looked into that solution. Looks like you just gave me some reading. Thanks.

One of the reasons the government broke-up the bell system was their monolithic resistance to bring along any new equipment and technologies to the "public airways". Where is the government now when carriers like AT&T use their market power with manufacturer to strip phone functionality from tablet sold here vs everywhere else around the world. This is also a competitiveness issue when we must carry (and pay for) two devices when everyone else can use just one.

I would strongly consider getting a note 8 for wife as she needs to do drawings and sketches on the move for the job.
Only it's way too expensive here in the UK . The 3g or LTE will no doubt be a stupid price!

While I've got my lovely nexus 7 and original n7000 note I'm very tempted by this ..I don't mind touchwiz and it has decent specs .

Att =ANOTHER TALK-RESTRICTED TABLET!!!!!
AT&T must have apple stock . Won’t let people choose straight up between apple and Samsung base on the (full) merits of the devices. Samsung must always have one hand tied behind their backs.
