Sprint Motorola Photon 4G

Sprint's Motorola Photon 4G is in the midst of a little bugfix update this week. You can either go into the settings menu and start the update that way, or just wait for the update notification to appear.

Here's what's being fixed in software version 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5:

  • Improvements to voice calling to eliminate inadvertent voice calls defaulting to mute
  • Improve stability, resulting in fewer occurrences of unresponsiveness
  • Bluetooth support for mono headsets with the Sprint Visual Voicemail application

Yeah. Muted calls are a big one, as is stability. Good on Sprint and Moto for getting that one pushed out soonest.

FRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE UPDATE WORKS GOOD FIXED EVERY THING TY SPRINT MOTORLA OH THE UPDATE MADE MY NET FASTER ALL TOGETHER THE PHONE IS JUST FASTER NOW

I still take it an ota update will bork the phone if rooted? Is there away to apply this update yet for rooted pbotons?

Rooting itself never prevents OTA updates, only when you modify the stock system by flashing a ROM or removing/freezing bloat does it cause you problems.

OTA updates can also break root & close the exploit that was used to gain root, so you always want to make sure you still have a root method available before accepting any OTA update.

OMG, this news made my day. I had to restart the phone today to make phone call and then I went online to see this news. Amazing, thanks Motorola and Sprint for fixing soonest.
I was gonna get Evo 3D but HTC does not have good reputation with battery life and lighter phone after I had Evo 4G. Motorola does updates its flagship and mid-end phones quickly.
This is one of the reasons I am not leaving Sprint :-)

I think the Photon is the best looking phone available. I love the design with those clipped corners

I was going to take my phone back to Sprint for something else. This fix came just in time. Thanks MMI & S!
