Photon 4G

Android hackers have succeeded in unlocking the Motorola Photon 4G bootloader using the methods they first figured out for the Atrix 4G.  Like most hacks of this nature, you're going to have to read the directions and understand everything before you jump in, and you'll need a bit of working knowledge of the standard fastboot procedures.  Because it's a Motorola phone, you're also going to need to know how to use RSDLite.  The good news is that the instructions are laid out nicely and it shouldn't be much of an issue once you get everything assembled.

The biggest thing to remember here, is that this is for the Photon only.  Don't go trying it on your Droid 3, or you'll likely be in for an ugly surprise.  With all that out of the way, head over to the source link and get started.  Let the games begin!

If moto would have stayed with tegra chip it meaniD3 and i mean the bionic would have the same

The thing is : people kept complaining about the Tegra 2 chip & how week its in the Atrix & the DROID X2 compared to the Snapdragon & the Exynos chips

From what I learned from these things
You can't make the Tech users (the avd. ones anyway) happy !

I'm extremely disappointed in Motorola. Their last 2 Android phones for Sprint both had the same bugs. Not being able to make a call until I do a battery pull, was the final nail in the coffin. I sure hope they redeem themselves with the Verizon's Bionic.

i dont have the photon but the phone its gorgeous i have to say the cutest phone out there having htc sensation coming in second place :) photon owners must be very happy with this beast of a phone i am waiting for my bionic :) i could it have the photon but i am on verizon

Forgive me for asking this, but as an android newbie (and Photon owner) I have to ask. What benefits come from rooting and unlocking the boot loader? What can you do?

For the average users , not much
For the Advanced users , allot , since they like to play with these things (such as replacing the software that comes with the phone , i.e. : not every like the Motorola Application platform UI in their phones or Sense UI in HTC , so they replace with a standard UI , like the one in the Nexus phones)

This is great news!! I knew it would only be a matter of time for someone to get the bootloader unlocked.
