Here's a sight to make everyone happy -- Motorola Droid X's are beginning to show up in some Verizon stores, ready for tomorrow's big rush. Android Central forums user NVR2ND shows us a few, noting that another 50 are on their way to that store. yet u fail to believe that the droid x is just as good without having custom roms. not every android phone has to have custom roms because it would make android in general look bad against other makers. and stop trolling on the site if u feel that bad that the droid x is locked. every phone from now from the makers of HTC and motorola will be locked so DEAL WITH IT!!!!!

When I went to Best buy to preorder one of these a week or two ago they told me they had stopped preorders on the X yet they still had there sign up for preorders. Wish me luck.

Rooting and replacing the bootloader are trial and error. This means a potential dozens or hundreds of bricked devices to hack the boot loader. Do you want to donate $600 to the cause?

the milestone didn't have a tripwire/efuse that makes phone unusuable if your unlock code doesn't work.

people need to shut up and stop depending on root so much. android phones from now to the future will have great specs that u dont need rooting for. rooting to me and yes i am rooted, isnt that much of a deal. sure custom colors, terminal, over clocking is sweet but when u have a already great phone, its pointless!

Rooting isn't about specs.
A rooted G1 is running 2.2 a non rooted g1 will FOREVER be stuck on 1.6.
Tell a G1 user that there's no benefits to rooting.

im not stating the older devices can't have rooting, im stating new devices that are released by HTC or motorola. okay rooting gives people un official updates that arnt release by the maker. but to me its not safe unless its released by the maker. all this bootloader stuff might be a hint towards gingerbread where android will be able to push updates faster to devices.

On the subject at hand.... I just left an electronics store with the initials BB. The girl opened the cabinet behind her and there were two dozen Droid 's stacked up ready for tomorrow.(they are calling people and making appointments for people to pick up their reserved phones) She was quite pissed at the last employee in there because they left it unlocked and cracked open a couple inches. LOL.
