As we've seen many times before, Motorola likes to do up plenty of tutorial videos for new devices when they launch but that may have back fired a little this time around and the unannounced Motorola Droid 3 is the subject of today's lessons. We've seen plenty of images of the device in the past but we now can confirm a few more things about the device without it being rumors.

It's packing an 8-megapixel camera and according to the info is capable of capturing up to 1080p video. Swype is coming pre-loaded and both micro-USB and mini-HDMI sit to the left of the device with the dedicated volume keys pushed to the right. The video doesn't say what version of Android will be loaded upon release but it does note the software is subject to change at the bottom of each video. Interested in seeing more? Jump on past the break for a look at the rest of the videos.

First! - just emailed androidcentral about this... then saw they had just posted it!

It has gingerblur like droid x has! Might be a newer version, heard rumors of 2.4 {possible more tweaked, dual core, dual cam friendly version?}

Definitely a nice looking phone and can't wait to see once they get more hands on with this device and maybe some launch info. I don't care about LTE since they seem to constantly have issues with it and would rather have my phone be able to last a full day. Hope this comes out around $199 since I have an upgrade in july and definitely am considering this phone. Hopefully they optimized everything for the dual core so there isn't any lag like on the dx2

Not bad. I expected more out of the OS. Nice keyboard though. The wife will dig this one.

people who 'first' a comment ARE GAY!

ScottColbert says:

And people who use the word gay like that are morons.

O'Bryan says:

so retarded fucking fagot wouldn't work either? LMMFAO

tehsusenoh says:

Really man? Really?

You said something stupid, then preceded to make it worse.

Anyhow, the phone looks cool. I'd love to have LTE, but that won't happen.

patfactorx says:

I LOVE this design. If you don't like it then you can go back to your Prius =op

IceDree says:

Well said

Dark_Blu says:

I've always liked the Droid Design. Isn't 2.4 supposed to be ICS? It can't possibly ship with ICS before the next version of the Nexus.

2.4 is still gingerbread like the same way 2.0 and 2.1 were the same. http://www.technobuffalo.com/companies/google/android/android-2-4-coming...

Comineeyeaha says:

I could be mistaken, but I believe they're talking about Blur version 2.4, not Android. That story you linked says it was supposed to be out in April, which has obviously come and gone.

Yes but it still is retaining the same name and blur was never numbered.

Comineeyeaha says:

I know as far as posting examples goes, this will seem inefficient, but the image in this URL, which lists the Droid X's specs, does list a version of MotoBlur. It's numbered. http://cdn.androidcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/droid_x-1-417...

I believe they mean 2.34 which is the most current release of Gingerbread. I would presume that since Ice Cream Sandwich transcends tablets and phones, in addition to whatever else they can think of(Android fridge?), so I would be looking for 4.x for ICS.

lyshote says:

I would think ICS would be numbered after honeycomb.

jackdw says:

The chin is back! I know some people like it, but I have to ask, why?

IceDree says:

I think its the Droid's Signature
It kinda gives the Droid\Droid2\Droid3 a unique look & make it stand out from the crowd

Plus , Motorola says its functional & more comfortable when you use the Hardware keyboard , so when you write you don't accidently hit the capacitive buttons under the screen

Having the chin does makes sense, then.

ravenlore says:

Squee. The more I see this device the less brokenhearted I am about the LTE.

mrgwap03 says:

Not bad..

VCL says:

This has always been IMO the best form factor from Motorola. I love this phone, 4 inch screen is perfect, the slide hardware is built very good and the only thing I hope is this phone comes with the LTE radio in it. It must have the new radio, this thing will sell many units.

IceDree says:

Man , that thing is awesome
New design , but looks the same (think iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4)
ALL BLACK , Slimmer , 8MP Camera with 1080HD recording , front camera , HMDI-out , Dual-Core CPU , 4" qHD , new Keyboard (it doesn't manner to me , i can't remember the last time i used mine) , New MOTOBLUR & a new Speaker ???
You can see it in the 1st video when she talks about the camera , don't get me wrong the speaker on the OG is more that capable

I think I found my next phone (Coming from MileStone 1) , I can't wait
I just hope that the MileStone 3 comes with the same MOTOBLUR version as this one & not the standard one (like the Atrix's , Defy's , ..etc) & to be released before August

Any word on the RAM & ROM ?
Please GOD make it + 1GHz & 16GB (minimum) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

one more thing :
whats the "Sleep Mode" in the first video when she shutdown the phone

balthuszar says:

sleep mode is lke on your computer, you hit the power button, but the phone itself doesnt turn off, its kinda like a bear that goes into hibernation...sleep=hibernation, off=death(though not in the your phone is broken beyond repair sort of way)

Jowlah says:

I always find it fascinating that these companies try to keep their new phone details under wraps by not officially announcing things. Then, in the blink of an eye, a simple tutorial leak squelches their plans. I remember all the problems around the time that Motorola employee "found" that prototype Droid Shadow (which became the Droid X) in the employee gym and then posted pix on the internet that promptly got him fired. But away from that, that it is a sexy phone. It's a little thicker then I thought it would be.

tdizzel says:

This seems like it has everything I like about my OG Droid, except its bigger, stronger and faster. Might just make me forget about the Bionic...maybe

Same here this phone looks awesome and not to mention all the issues they are having with 4g and how they jack the prices up on 4g phones. I have an upgrade in july and if this is out by then and there is no word of the bionic I will get this as long as there aren't any major issues right away.

rhuber says:

Looks good, but I kind of have a bad Motorola taste in my mouth after the Gingerbread update on my DroidX. Doesn't access my SD card anymore, and they apparently consider that my problem. No more Motorola for me.

BTW,does the D3 have a FFC?

dwt10 says:

droid x2 no front camera, but this has it :(

dasolano says:

This phone is epic but the lack of LTE proves to be a fatal flaw. Though LTE has issues today, this does not mean it will continue to have issues for the next 2 years. 3G began in 2003 and it is still the main telecommunications service in the U.S in 2011. I own and love my Droid OG and am about to come out of my contract with it so I would hate to enter another 2 year contract for a phone that fails to use the latest and future of mobile internet. People say that they don't care about LTE since it has issues and because it doesn't reach their area but chances are it will be fixed and expanded to the same area as 3G in the future, if not near future, so it would be nice to have the ability to use the latest technology even if you can't in your area. Motorola should really put LTE so that people at the very least have the opportunity to use 4G in the future, even if they can't yet.
