The wait for the OnePlus 2's launch is over, but you can't just walk into a store and buy one like you would most other major smartphones.
Just like its predecessor, the OnePlus 2 is going to be available through an invite system. Last year the difficulty in actually being able to purchase a OnePlus One was a point of contention for many would-be buyers, but OnePlus insists that this year's invite system will be fairer, and that there'll be significantly more stock available from the get-go.
The invite system returns, but it should be easier to get your hands on a phone this year.
To this end, you can add your email to a reservation list for a invite by heading to OnePlus's invites page. There are well over 300,000 people on the list, so if you're dead-set on a OnePlus 2, sign up quickly. Also, the reservation list prioritizes OnePlus forum users, so if you're new to the company, you may be waiting longer than more loyal, long-term fans. Once you're on the reservation list, you can bump your way up the list by
As with the OnePlus One, once someone buys a OnePlus 2, they'll be given invites they can hand out to friends, family, and acquaintances on social media. OnePlus has said OnePlus 2 buyers will get their invites much quicker than last year as well. Once you buy your phone with an invite, the company says it "may take up to 3 weeks before it is ready to ship."
Have you joined the reservation list for the OnePlus 2? Been lucky enough to receive an invite? Shout out in the comments! In addition, OnePlus has said that invites should be available at OnePlus's pop-up stores in nine cities across the globe over the coming weeks.
If you happen to get your hands on an invite, you'll be paying $389 for the high-end model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the lower-end model will arrive in Q4 2015 for $329 with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage instead.
