Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

Available for the first time in white, bundled with a Bluetooth keyboard and dock for $349.99

Samsung released a special edition of their Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 yesterday, dubbed the Student Edition. Coming in a special color, white (not previously available in the U.S.), the tablet is bundled with Samsung's own Desktop Dock and slim Bluetooth Keyboard. Software freebies are part of the bundle as well, which include a copy of Polaris Office, 50GB of Dropbox storage for one year, and a three month subscription to streaming content provider Hulu Plus.

Marketed towards students, Samsung touts the bundle's laptop-like functionality without the laptop-like heft, and over $100 savings over buying each bundle component separately.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition bundle is available now at Best Buy, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Toys ‘R’ Us, BJ’s, P.C. Richard & Son and Office Max for $349.99.

They've had white Galaxy Tab 2 10.1's at Costco since late last year.

I feel bad for a student that gets this instead of a real laptop.

This. My Windows 8 Toshiba laptop, with 4GB of RAM, 500GB of storage, and 17.3 inch screen, was only $380.

With a terrible screen and the cheapest possible parts and build. Also Windows 8. Ugh.

Haters gonna hate. It works for me. That's all that matters.

Seems like a pretty nice deal. It's no replacement for having a real desktop at home but a student could get a lot of use out of something like this deal, more than just getting them a regular laptop.

it's a "Cool" deal, not a useful one lol

Although a proper computer would get the job done better perhaps ? I still think for note taking and things like that this is very decent piece of kit for the money.

Samsung can't give these piece of junk tablets away so they might as well mark them down and pretend like they would be good for students.

These tablets aren't junk, IMO (I auditioned one for about a week), but the screen resolution is way way too low for a 10.1 inch tablet in 2013. If they had made these with a 1920x1080 screen they'd be pretty durned awesome.
