In an effort to be able to provide updates faster, HTC has brought its Mail app to Google Play as a standalone download.
HTC has decided to put its Mail app as a listing in Google Play, allowing them to better control the update process of the application. With this new listing, HTC will no longer have to push out an OS update in order to bring new features, or squash any on-going bugs that may be taking place. The initial release doesn't bring anything new along with it.
The change log for the initial release reads:
Now available for updates on the Play Store
HTC Mail is available now as a free download in Google Play, and combines all of your email accounts in one place. HTC Mail supports Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Outlook, Exchange ActiveSync and other IMAP or POP3 accounts.
