The Xperia Z3 Compact is a miniature version of Sony's flagship phone for late 2014, the Xperia Z3. Featuring much of the Z3's high-end hardware, including a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, a 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera and waterproof credentials, the Z3 Compact aims to tap into the market of users wanting a high-end phone without a gigantic screen. It's fitted with a 4.6-inch 720p display, and naturally, that makes it a direct competitor with Apple's iPhone 6.
Elsewhere, the Z3 Compact swaps the Z1 Compact's metal trim for plastic, but it's now glass-backed, making for a more premium in-hand feel. On top of that there's a 2,600mAh battery, up from the Z1 Compact's 2,300mAh, and Sony claims the phone can last two days of regular use.
The Z3 Compact arrived in Europe in late September 2014. No U.S. carrier release plans have been confirmed at the time of writing.
