U.S. Cellular adds Samsung Gem, HTC Merge to its prepaid lineup

Played with a Merge unit in Madison a couple days ago. Very solid unit with HTC's typical quality build. That phone coming to prepaid makes it one of the nicer ones I've seen, right up there with the galaxy S phone for boost or virgin or whatever.

So awesome that the Merge hits prepaid. Even better that the phone isnt any different than the contract phone like some other companies....Lol

And all the folks who have it, are giving it rave reviews. Over on the U.S. Cellular facebook page. It seems to be a very good phone.

I don't get it. Their coverage map shows my area is covered, by they don't offer service here. What's up with that?

Could totally Merge out on cheap coverage. We have every other company here and blanketed with LTE and Wi-Max.

Well that's it right there. While U.S Cellular says that they have national coverage like other carriers, it's because it is other carrier's coverage. While they do like to portray themselves as national, they really only have good regional coverage for some areas. The coverage you saw was "partner" coverage, and not technically running on their towers.

I will say this, USCC has some pretty damn good prepaid plans.
