The T-Mobile myTouch 3G aka HTC Magic aka Google Ion has been formally announced as T-Mobile's Second Android Device with pre-orders starting July 8th and an expected August release date. This is odd. According to T-Mobile UK's twitter account, the Second Android Device on T-Mobile UK will be called the G1 Touch. We thought all along that the Second Android Device (the HTC Magic) was called the MyTouch 3G? Are they going to call it two different names in the US and the UK? Or is the G1 Touch an entirely different device?

HTC CEO Peter Chou expects the HTC Magic to ship its millionth unit within "one to two months". Mind you, it's not exactly the same as 1 million units sold but HTC is very pleased with the current sales of the HTC Magic and expects it to beat many industry analysts' predictions. We guess tough economy or not, people still want their Android!

Oh yes! Italians can get in on the Android HTC Magic fun! Italy's TIM has put up a website for the HTC Magic for a low, low (read: high, high) price of €449 which is roughly $595 (yowza!). China Mobile has a highly customized HTC Magic in the works loaded with custom firmware and TD-SCDMA capabilities (China's own network which should mean no Wi-Fi or 3G). If you take a look at the pictures you can see that this pre-production model has a lot of the software that is different from typical Android goodies, you almost get an iPhone-esque layout that honestly bears no resemblance to Android.
