Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet

Samsung Mobile today at the IFA conference in Berlin announced the long-awaited (and heavily leaked) Samsung Galaxy Tab -- a 7-inch tablet running Android 2.2 That's right, it's launching with Froyo, folks, a leg up on the vast majority of Android devices, never mind the other tablets available.

The Galaxy Tab has full smartphone connectivity -- 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, Adobe Flash Player 10.1 -- all in a form factor that you can hold in one hand, powered by a 1GHz processor. Want cameras? The Galaxy Tab has a 3-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and as 1.3MP camera on the front for video chats.

Is the Galaxy Tab the Android tablet we've all been waiting for? Will it dethrone the iPad? Or even threaten its position? We're just getting started with our coverage, folks. Our own Dieter Bohn is in Berlin and is giving the Galaxy Tab the what-for. Samsung's official press release is after the break.

Full disclosure: Samsung paid the way for a number of bloggers to attend IFA, and that includes us. But the Galaxy Tab is just the tip of the iceberg, and we're going to hit it all.

I really hope they announce the price soon. I have the Cruz Tablet on pre-order at Borders but really want this device instead. I am NOT willing to pay $500 for the Tab though. I wish there was a website comparing all of these new tablets being released so I can choose the one I want based on spec requirements and cost...Based on Samsung's history with new product announcements, do any of you know when they release price information after the initial product announcement??

Good point slayerpsp - I don't want to be tied to a carrier for this and doubt that Sprint will have in on launch. I guess we will have to wait and see...
