PowerSkin NFC-enabled battery case for the Samsung Galaxy S3

While some folks roam the world with their devices unprotected, there is countless others out there who prefer to not leave such things to chance. Personally, I don't use cases normally but every now and then something interesting comes along that brings some new added functionality to a plain jane case that makes me want to give it a go. Such is the situation with the new PowerSkin NFC-enabled battery case for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Aside from offering protection, it has a whole set of other features built right into it, most notably NFC:

  • On / off button located on the side gives users power on demand
  • 1500 mAh rechargeable battery extends talk time up to 2.83 hours (up to 97 hours standby)
  • NFC enabled for quick information sharing
  • Smart Power Management shuts off PowerSkin when phone is fully charged for zero loss of power
  • Included cable allows users to sync data while re-charging
  • LED battery lights display charging status
  • One-piece, soft-touch, silicone case slides on seamlessly and protects against shocks, drops and dust

Rather than taking your device out of the case to use NFC, it's right there for you and ready use. If you're looking to pick one up and give it a go, it'll set you back $80. However; for a limited time PowerSkin is offering a free portable speaker bonus until September 19th. You can hit the link below for more details or to purchase one directly.

PowerSkin unveils their NFC-enabled battery case for the Samsung Galaxy S3

I'm guessing the "NFC Enabled" feature means that their 1500 battery is NFC enabled. While that's nice, it's really solving a problem they created. Most regular cases will let NFC through. Useful that they added it but I think it should be described as keeping a feature, not adding one.

the nfc chip in my gnex penetrates my case and allows me to use it with my case on...is the s3's nfc chip weaker or something? I like the concept alot though.

The issue isnt the case, its that if you want an extended battery it has to have nfc inside of the battery.. like the original one.

Nice but a bit pricey. In fact I got SUCH a good deal on my GS3, this battery/case is actually 30% MORE than my phone.. Nice idea though :)

If they make this in brushed aluminum (either thin metal or plastic) and give it a kickstand, I'm all in!

Gator352... I agree.... Aluminum & a kickstand would seal the deal for me.... Especially when i consider the price.

Yeah, but with this PowerSkin, you're not replacing the 2100 mAh battery, you're actually adding another 1500 mAh battery.

A decent battery cost $30, you won't find a name brand battery case for $30 until a year or two after it is released, or bought off second hand (used.) You're welcome to buy one of the cheap ones made from china though.

I agree that this is pricey though. I hope seidio's case isn't this expensive

sorry Powerskin customer service is Terrible, left messaage after message on thier warranty voice mail never received a call back ... Unit on my S2 didnt last 30 days .. Just my 2 cents

awesome you just saved me some dough!! i was gonna jump on the powerskin but held off. im glad i did. and it has a kickstand!! what a plus. i'll probably never use NFC anyway. havent yet.

I have been using Samsung mobile since long time. It always gave me a good response than other brands. I found the best option here http://howmobile.net/samsung/2153-samsung.html to purchase Galaxy S3 & its really amazing experience with it. Its the only brand providing you Best android models in reliable price. And always on the way for new launches. After this blog I found my doubts clear about its skincase
