No surprise here. Motorola and T-Mobile have just announced the previously leaked Motorola Cliq 2. The specs are as expected, in line with that of the original Motorola Cliq series of devices. From the press release:

We are excited to build upon the success of the original CLIQ, bringing the powerful combination of Android and social connectivity to our customers,” said Paul Cole, vice president, product management, T-Mobile USA. “With the addition of new business-ready features, the Motorola CLIQ 2 offers peace of mind with the ability to balance home and work life.

No mention of upgrades coming eventually for the Motorola Cliq 2 but it does indeed ship with Android 2.2. If you're in the market for a cost effective device, this could be the one you are looking for. Full press release is after the break.

danm you t mobile as if your Motorola cliq customers haven't suffer enough, t mobile have compassion please don't release this crap.

Uhh.. The G2, N1, and NS would have words with you..

And the grandaddy of the all.. the G1

you must be smoking crack, take another look at tmo line up after you go through withdrawl, so far verizon have the best android line up. the majority of tmo phones are low end, then 2 mid range, and 3 high end.

what about that honeycomb keyboard? any word or pics if it is really going to have it when released? Yuck!

Im leaving T-Mobile because they don't care a out us big handed Android users. We find no joy in the small G2 or Nexus S. I'm going to att seeing as they have 3 phones with 4.2 in+. I love my HD2 with android but I want a REAL Android phone. Like wow CES starts today and all T-Mobile has is the MOTO-UGH(blur) enabled MOTO cliq. Simply ridiculous. I'm livid at T-Mobile right now!!!!!
