Finally! After dealing with dark and fuzzy pictures of the Motorola Droid aka Tao aka Sholes, we finally get a clean and clear picture of it--and yes, it looks as good as we want it to. This picture-perfect angle of what we expect to be the first Verizon Android device shows that it is in fact, called the Motorola Droid and that it will run Android 2.0 'Eclair' as listed in the above settings. We're crossing our fingers that Verizon and Motorola plan to launch this very, very soon.

What do you guys think?

is this a verizon exclusive?? I'm with tmobile and I know we're getting the cliq and hd2, how about this? I think the cliq is too weak (specs) and I prefer android over windows. Unless of course the hd2 comes out with android.

The current ROM versions for Android phones are 1.5 and (for some) the early wave of the 1.6 roll-out.

A phone with 2.0 on it definitely is NOT "outdated". It's ahead of the current play.

I don't know what the people see of so special in Hero.. is the gui? Because for me after G1 I never more will buy a HTC phone.. I love android, but HTC no..
Hero looks like a iphone wannabe but is far away to be.

My next phones for sure will be with a Sony Ericsson (Rachael) or this one..

Look the specs, stop to look how the phones look. If you want something beautiful, take Sony Ericsson Rachael.

The G1 was the first, so is special. But it only has 256MB of memory of the OS and the apps. Very tight. Almost every phone since, from HTC or anyone else has had 512MB.

The ability to store apps on the sdcard would help the G1 a lot, provided the memory freed up by that could be used to run programs.

It's the same old story. The early adopters get the new coolness, which a year or two later is the lumpy staleness.....but they have already enjoyed what others are only them catching up with.

1.5 and 1.6 are the current version. 2.0 has yet to be released officially.

It's great to see VZW getting in the Android game.

Lame! Looks like they could not match the sizing of the bottom plastic to the top. Hero > Droid.

Umm the point is it makes it easier to separate the pieces, not that they couldn't match the size.

moron.

freezekill, Verizon will be getting an HTC "Hero" type phone. It will either be the "Hero" or "Desire". It will be more like the HTC "Tattoo" in form, and will have HTC's customizable "Sense" UI.

I have the storm and I also work for tMO,(ironic huh) this phone is going to be a first for verizon. I have the touch pro2 from tmo just because i work there and i don't really care for the G1and the my touch is cool. I was considering breaking my contract with verizon and just having two tmo phones just because i get a deep discount on my service. Verizon has given me something else to fiend over, and hopefully they'll give me an early upgrade coupon like they did with my storm.
