HTC continues to offer teasers for its next smartphone, rumored to be called simply the HTC 10, on its official Twitter page. The latest post shows an image of what looks to be the phone's speakers
The HTC Twitter post states:
Here comes the new boom. You'll hear it. #powerof10 pic.twitter.com/Ln3XxWZ9BO— HTC (@htc) March 23, 2016

The image does appear to match the reportedly leaked images of the phone. The company will hold a virtual press event on April 12 to officially introduce the new smartphone.
Take take my money already!

I'm hoping HTC knocks it out of the park this year. With all the leaks, it sounds pretty promising...

Really cool of they keep the boom sound speakers!
But it'll be an odd placement with having one front facing and one bottom facing speaker
I want to see this phone and how it improves from the A9.
The new HTC 10 will be a refinement of HTC's innovations making it the very best flagship HTC has offered. After the EVO, 4G LTE, and One, the HTC 10 will be my, as well as many others, new daily driver.
Moreover, with regained focus HTC has more surprising innovations to come.
After not owning an HTC phone since the Nexus One, I've been very pleased with the A9. Unless they've really screwed something up, I can't really see myself NOT buying the 10.
I prefer headphones... Nice for those who want it though. HTC needs a differentiator at this point.
Everyone always brings up the headphones. I understand listening to music through headphones but I insist on front facing speakers so the speaker isn't muffled when sitting on a table or car seat so that it isn't muffled.
Even with headphones HTC is better because of the DAC inside the phone.
That depends on what makes HTC's audio quality better. I liked Boomsound on their previous phones but all it really does is pump up the lows and highs, making the mids muted and the highs somewhat distorted.
Imho, the V10 is the one to beat in terms of headphone quality because built-in ESS DAC (One could say G5 as well but the B&O DAC module will be ignored by the general masses who buy it due to pricing).
Posted on an LG V10
I for one will vote with my wallet. If it has front facing speakers I will buy. If it doesnt ill pass.
I'm with you and I even contacted HTC when the rumors started about not having front facing speakers. Not that they listen to me but the more feedback the better.
HTC needs to bring it! Cant wait
So looks like a bottom firing speaker combined with a an earpiece that is also a speaker...?
The earpiece as speaker is easy for them. Actually, it would be a speaker used as an earpiece, which they are already very good at. For conversation audio quality, the M8 has been the best phone I've had, and gets loud enough to use as a speaker phone without even switching to speaker phone mode. For typical phone calls with the phone to the ear, half volume is fine. Speaker phone mode will work in a conference room with multiple people, and my boss prefers it to her BlackBerry.
And you just can't hide it.....
That will have sound at both ends of the phone in landscape, but they won't be balanced unless they compensate for the EQ difference caused by the sound diffracting around the bottom of the device. If they do, then it would be possible...
Not perfect, but possible.
I'm fairly certain they know what they're doing when it comes to this. It's their differentiator after all.
Come to think of it, I believe they were the first to create a phone with Dolby surround sound, which no one else had done before. I'm kinda intrigued now.
There are some mods on certain phones that allow the earpiece and bottom speaker to work together. I have it on a few of my phones and i love it as much as boomsound
I like these tweets
Yup there really mysterious
Getting more excited....but ready for a let down based on last year.....fingers crossed it is awesome.
Stares at beloved M7... This could be the one.!
dreaming of electric sheep
Love my M7 as well. Moved to a 6P and couldn't be happier. It's like they took an M7, made it bigger, upgraded the internals and put stock android on it. If the M10 isn't all that you are hoping for the 6P is waiting for you.
Looking forward to seeing this phone. If it has a solid camera experience, these speakers and some extra love, I'd gladly come back to htc. Been a fan since the original evo days. I left after it was time to upgrade my evo 4g lte to my current lg g3. Been patiently waiting for them to win me back.
Why didn't the M7 win you back other than the average camera it was the first with the front facing speakers? Was phone of the year.
You can't say "other than the average camera" and expect to have your question taken seriously.
Yeah the camera was actually the deal breaker for me. I undertook the concept of the technology but to lower the overall resolution so much I didn't want to take that chance. My evo lte had a great camera for the time and the m7 seemed like a backwards move in my opinion. The lg g3 was intriguing and I took the chance. I'm glad that I did. In fact if the G5 would have stayed the course of the G4 but better, I'd probably already ordered one. I'm still waiting to see if HTC will release a great phone first but have decided I may for the first time wait til fall to see what a LG v11 or (first Samsung purchase) Note 6 may bring to the table. I'm not sure if nexus phones are sold through Sprint but that would be something I'd consider too this fall.
I'm honestly hoping HTC knocks it out of the park this go around. I'd gladly give them my business again.
I actually get compliments on my pictures.......using the M7. until I zoom in all the way, but..not an SLR!
This is the first htc phone im really getting excited about
The speaker is probably the least of my concerns. I don't use my phone as my music device. Never have and don't plan on starting now.
If I buy a new phone this year, it will probably be the HTC 10 barring any major disappointment.
Based on existing technologies at given time, for me the HTC Evo 4G LTE was the most exciting phone phone I've owned, other than the Palm Series (especially the Palm Pre) back in the day. I then went to the HTC EVO, and then the M8 HK edition which was extremely disappointing due to the camera. Somewhere in the time mix of the past 4-6 years, I even had a SG S3 or (S4?) for a while. And even though I don't upgrade my phone every year, I really wanted/needed a better camera for 2015, but there was nothing out there that I had any interest in, even the M9.
2016 is a different story, I really do "need" a better camera, and these Twitter announcements from HTC are beginning to interest me, and have me hoping/believing that HTC might finally have the type of phone I need / want. My top 4 critical "needs"
1) Sound. It's amazing how many times for work or play, I'll bring up a video or presentation for others to view & listen to.
2) Camera. I don't want to go through several gyrations to get a good shot, I need a simple point & click with great quality.
3) Display. It's needs to be clearly visible and useful outdoors.
4) Memory. I'm finally in the camp where a Micro SD is definitely useful.
I'll add #5 here. A non-destructible screen so I don't have to hide a beautiful phone in a case. I can live with a few dings on the body, but the screen has to be able to stand up to slipping out of the hand....
HTC has, for a couple years, a FREE no fault next day replacement warranty.
Last time I tried, they wanted the phone to be sent to them, and I'd have to wait for 7-10 days to get one back. I think the issue was related to the screen, and I had passed the 6 month (or 1 year?) grace period by a matter of weeks.
Wow DavidJ726 .. I did the Treo and Centro back in the day and cut my Android teeth on a Samsung Epic - LED flash and a forward faciing camera WOW!
So now been driving a S5 for a couple of years now and looking to upgrade . Seeing the newer Sammy product is 'better' but not really faster or 'Gotta have it!' LG made the upgraded sound a seperate accessory purchase where it was included with the V10 . And thought of Nexus hard this time but no wireless charging no sd card etc.. made it seem like two steps back.
Anyway my headphone jack is now in op on my S5 and it reminded me how limited the sound was without a headset it is .. forgot about HTC after they used the 810 last year while sammy went equynos and lg went 808 ect ..
Maybe with the boom t, HTC will bring a sd card , a screen and camera that has not been on the market for 2 years , some form of water proofing and really go crazy and do the non integrated batt .
Looks like 2.1 sound
Really looking forward to this new design.... From being an exclusive HTC owner all these years, I have had good luck and bad luck.... Having the HTC Droid Incredible (the best) to a Rezound (The worst) to a M8 (Good) to the M9 (Average), I am hopeful to getting to a GREAT... Bring me the Sound (Boom), bring me a good Cam..... Quick charging..... Fast..... Great battery..... and a good display.... something I can see in the daylight!
So if the tweet matches up with the leaked images, then what looks like a thin top speaker grille would have to sit on the bottom lip of the phone almost immediately below the fingerprint scanner? I suppose that could be an almost sorta front-firing sound port, right?
Well the display's too small for my tastes, but I'm definitely more insterested in the launch now.
based on the renders and the tweet, the top part of the tweet pic is the top of the phone speaker, and the bottom of the tweet pic is the bottom of the phone.
The speaker on the A9 was pretty good, but not immersive like the M7. If it has a forward facing speaker and downward facing speaker, it could work pretty well in portrait mode when resting on a desk or something.
OK...now that's a BIG tease! and they have to assume that most customers associate the "boom sound" with dual front facing speakers!! any less will be uncivilized! (and cruel!)
Now I really hope they do well with the 10.
I'm on a nexus 6 and hope that when I upgrade in 2019 that there will be a phone with 6.1"+ and duel facing front speakers to upgrade to.
Once you experience the magic of the best way to watch TV and movies anything less is a downgrade
But there's no front facing speakers. No boom boom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T82PRw_2W4Y
Waiting for the next nexus

Ready to upgrade my HTC desire.
Ready to get this! (Digs the BoomBass out of the drawer...)
I am keeping my M8 after my Verizon contract expires because I love it.
I am still planning to buy an unlocked HTC 10 because I have complete faith that HTC is going to raise the flagship bar substantially.
The most important thing to me is the DAC. No other phone plays music through headphones as well as my M8, but the HTC 10 will almost assuredly improve on the best of the best.
I believe this. I have to
On another note, is there any indication that the HTC 10 will have the IR Blaster?
I love my M8, I'm ready for the M10 though! But I'm not too fond of the headphone jack being on the top of the phone, that doesn't make sense to me. I personally like the lock screen button on top .
