So… there's an all-new HTC One coming, and it has speakers that are good for a man making awesome sounds, moose mating calls, Viking sopranos, and two horns. The original HTC One's dual front-facing stereo BoomSound speakers sported a Class-D audio amplifier for the loudest, highest quality speakers we'd seen heard on a smartphone. The all-new HTC One, apparently, has redesigned audio components that make it more [womp womp]. We'll find out more next month.

Yeah, I'm excited to see how HTC has improved an already amazing device.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

I think this year will be their year to be honest. Maybe not their year to be number one, but their rebounding year to get back in the market.

StealthDroid - Working on his HTC One Max in the Nexus Lab

In order for HTC to be number one this year, Samsung would have to not sell a single device.

I don't think HTC's goal is to become number one this year. I think they just want to remain a relevant contender.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

That's would I would like to see. HTC has a good chance this year at becoming relevant again. I think a lot of people weren't happy with the S5, and a lot of friends are talking about the new ONE coming out this year. When I could upgrade next year, I'll be picking one up, that's for sure.

Well, according to the leaks, it's probably going to look similar to the original One, minus a slight bump in screen size. But, I'm anxious to hear these upgraded speakers.

Well, with the boomsound speakers, you're going to get some bezel, whether you like it or not.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

I'm referring to the space allowing the hideous HTC logo to be there. The screen is nearly the same size as the original once you account for this. All they did was add more bulk to an overly bulky phone IMO.

That's the thing, though. HTC can remove that logo area and still increase the screen size, keeping the handset from becoming too tall. They're choosing to increase the screen size and keep the HTC logo in the same space.

Take it or leave it.

I don't think anyone is going to complain in the design, I'm just excited to see what improvements they brought as far as software goes.

I suppose nice external speakers are a selling point for some people. I can't remember the last time I heard a sound come from mine though.

My brother was the same way. He used to always have headphones on, but those speakers really changed his perspective. They are flat out incredible speakers that sound fantastic!

Nexus 5...enough said

I said something similar on a previous post. Got roundly trounced as a hater. But I'm with you. Rather have less bezel. My phone is always on silent.

Posted via Android Central App

Sounds like you need to look @ LG and Sony.

Personally I love the speakers. Nothing anybody really uses them for their sole multimedia entertainment experience, but when you do need them they're fantastic. Watching a video clip w/ people, speakerphone calls and hearing it ring even while it's wedged between your couch cushions.

Posted via Android Central App

I'm really liking the look of the gpro 2. That's meant to have pretty decent speakers anyway, so maybe the best of both worlds?

Posted via Android Central App

I have the HTC One and it puts my surface pro speakers to shame. Using earphones for a long time is bad ,as it damages your hearing on the long term.

Posted via Android Central App

Everyone has different needs/uses. The speakers are a lot like the IR remote, some use it often while others don't. I personally find the speakers handy and use them quite a bit. I also can't count how many times I've seen someone watch a video on their phone and have to cup their hand behind it so they can hear better.

I think a lot of people are in the same boat as you. The shitty speakers are one of the only things that make me regret getting an N5, though. I spend half my week in hotels, and I carry a Jambox so I can listen to music decently while on the road. A phone with really good speakers would mean I didn't have to carry that with me anymore.

Tough to fix a Jambox in your carry on? First world problems. You CAN make the N5 **speaker much better than stock, but I would also love FF stereo speakers IF it didn't come with those huge bezels.

This bezels business is a tired, lame irrelevant issue. Seriously!

Apparently you bezel folks are absolutely unaware how silly you appear. Amazing how your life is irrevocably altered by a tiny little bezel. So that's the only nit you can pick!?!? That bezel just kills it for ya, eh?

What would you say if the area under the HTC moniker was a fingerprint scanner for secure log in to your accounts.?

I agree that it really isn't a big deal, and the black band certainly won't be a deal breaker for me. I am puzzled though, why it is there, adding length to an already tall phone?

Accommodating a fingerprint reader sensor would justify it, especially if it would be a press, rather than stroke operation, and I'm hoping for that capability on the phone.

That was pretty entertaining. I love March. My birthday, my Verizon contract expiration, and the new HTC One - all in the same month.

This probably is the mot excited I have been for a HTC phone. Cant wait to see what they do. If the phone looks anything like the renders from Evleaks and packs some 'wow' feature, I think Im leaving my nexus 5

It's the loudest but we can't get it as low when required at night times or in public places it's a mess.

Posted via Android Central App

This is a real concern as it is hard to remember to silence your phone before every meeting. Being able to lower the volume below what used to be the lowest setting would be a big deal (just like the super dimming of the S5 screen is actually a big deal).

Remember when HTC made a variety of phones? It seems the HTC One will live on to become.... wait for it...
THE ALL NEW HTC ONE! WITH BOOMIER BOOM BOOM SOUND! WITH IT'S 2 REVOLUTIONARY FRONT FACING SPEAKERS!!!! [We called that "Stereo" in the olden days.]

Yeah, novel approach. Who would have thought? Front facing stereo speakers!

Well the new Sony tablet has a pair of front facing stereo speakers.

With the HTC One you don't have to cup your hand below the bottom back of handset to maybe hear a tinny You Tube short and your friends don't have to pretend to hear or get far enough away to watch.

It wasn't a contract to lose. They actually owned Beats Audio when they made the One. Past tense.

Posted via Android Central App

They didn't lose anything. They sold their stake in the company, thus terminating their use of Beats in their products.

You really should see the crap I don't post. Sorry if honesty offends you

Yeah, it's just an EQ, essentially.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

Some people don't want their phone modded/rooted to get that functionality. It's nice to have a equalizer preset on the phone by default.

Ummm, EQ settings don't usually require rooting, modding, or anything of that nature. He just worded it that way.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

Beats will not be part of the new One, but Beats is just a software thing. Boomsound, which is HTC's name for their high-quality speakers, is separate from Beats, and will be included.

Beats is a perfectly decent equalizer, but it's really not a big loss at all, aside from a marketing perspective.

And this is the start to a failed marketing campaign and poor sales. Sound? Who cares.

Now if you throw in a pair of beats audio head phones with each sale.. Now that's worth noting, but no one but a select few care about how great their sound is externally.

I think more people (average people, those representing the bigger part in the consumer market) care about sound quality than super thin bezels...

Posted via Android Central App

Obviously, people choose the iPhone. Which has massive bezel

-------------------------------------------------------
Sent from inside a cave. Yes, T-Mobile covers caves. N5

The Rezound came with a pair of iBeats, and Verizon did not sell a ton, and everyone said the opposite. Why buy a phone based on the headphones you get.

BaAAH

Why buy a phone based on the included headphones? Because they were essentially including somethings that retails for $100. For people who were in the market for mid-range headphones (and that is a very large market), it looked like a great deal. Beats headphones may not be the best, but they're a hell of a lot better than the headphones that any other company has ever included with their phones.

by the sales numbers of the first HTC One.. haha.

When the Rezound came out Beats were not near as popular as they are now..

What were those sales numbers, by the way?

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

yeah I don't recall them ever being published.
obviously the S4 sold the most but who knows an exact figure?

Yeah, I understand that the One didn't outsell the S4. But, that doesn't mean that it didn't sell well.

Remarks like "select few," implying that the One didn't sell at all, are completely unwarranted.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

Amir and mercdroid,

I read your comments all the time and normally you two give out great info. But this time a simple Google would provide the answer from Android Central, phonearena, the wall Street journal, and many others. So published numbers of phones sold, while maybe incomplete at this time, still was published in the past.

Example :
http://m.androidcentral.com/report-around-5-million-htc-one-phones-sold

Sorry to nitpick, and keep on doing what you guys do. I love the gossip.

You beat me to this reply, lol. That article says nothing about the other seven months out of the year.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

I think, you're wrong. They're marketing a feature of their handset. It's no different from Samsung marketing air swipe (or whatever the hell it's called).

Just because you don't care about the sound of the speakers, doesn't mean that no one does.

One of my friends bought the One. His buying point? You guessed it: the speakers. He and his wife listen to a lot of music. And, using headphones defeats the purpose of them listening to music together.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

They could buy 2 bluetooth headphones.
And they seriously have nothing better to listen to music on?
A stereo of some kind?

It's not that they can't afford bluetooth headphones or a proper stereo system or speakers; but, they do appreciate the simplicity of just using his phone.

I went over to his house for a grill-out. He had music playing, and surprisingly, it was loud, coming only from his One. In that instance, having dedicated speakers would have been overkill.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

And, in my opinion, Beats is highly overrated.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

The headphones? yes
The EQ mod in HTC phones? no but there are other(sometimes better) audio mods out there.

Yeah, I was talking about the headphones. I should have specified that, in my reply.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

That's great. I love listening to music on my One especially when traveling. Actually sounds better than my MacBook Pro and much more convenient too. Definitely needs to be a little louder though.

Lol

HTC needs more commercials like this. THIS is how you market features.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

Let's see what other features they'll market like this.
LG did a really good job with commercials for the camera of the G2.
I was even sold on them. HTC should do the same. Also time is key.
LG aired their commercials during sports games, and other high rating TV moments.
I never really saw many HTC commercials. The phone sells itself. They din't even need RDJ.

I agree. And, yeah, the 12 or so million dollars that HTC paid to Robert Downey Jr was completely wasted. They didn't need him.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

Yeah. They should do some simple feature related Apple like commercial

-------------------------------------------------------
Sent from inside a cave. Yes, T-Mobile covers caves. N5

Yeah. Despite the jokes that people make about Apple's commercials, I actually like them. They're simple and to the point.

In England at least the only time I have seen a specific HTC One advert is during Champions League and Europa League

Posted via Android Central App

I like the sound that comes from the HTC one but it's not loud enough. I know this is not meant to be used as a party sound system but sometimes you have to improvise. One time I had to use my phone for a small party at a hotel room with a few people in there and I was embarrassed because someone else pulled out an LG INTUITION and that thing sounded very loud to be heard in the room. My htc one had to go back in my pocket. I hope the new Htc has louder speakers.

Zzzzzzzz... needs more cowbell! ;) Or how about the Kroll Show treatment? That would be much more entertaining/appealing! :P /Chou? Are you listening?

Even though I only occasionally watch music videos on my HTC One, I appreciate the excellent sound, unlike the audio on my Nexus 7, Galaxy S2, iPhone 4, and Droid X.
The front-facing stereo speakers were a major selling point for me, but might not be for my next phone (since I only occasionally watch videos).

Seriously can't wait too get my hands on the all new One. I love Android and I love what HTC is doing. I wish they could get more market share so everyone would quit saying they should just "lay down and die". I mean seriously, that makes whoever is saying it sound ignorant anyway. I think that any kind of competition is good for us, the consumers, because it keeps manufacturers innovating products that continue to get better. I don't buy Samsung or Apple products, doors that mean I wish they would drop off the face of the earth so I didn't hang to see another damn iPhone again? No. So to all the haters, go stick an Apple or Sammy in the mud room! #HTCOneUp

What a pathetic ad!! HTC you are losing it.
Was not funny.
Was not cool.
Was not entertainment.
To be honest I don't know what htc was thinking. LOL

Posted via Android Central App

You really don't like HTC do you. I found it non offensive. It's a little 'cheesy', but at least they are having fun and not starting a full out war with other companies.

Posted via Android Central App

So ads have to be funny or entertain you? Maybe you're the problem, not advertisement. A successful advertisement doesn't have to be entertaining, it has to get the point across.

Posted via Android Central App

Hey, they got what they wanted from you. You watched the ad, and they win, regardless of your incompetent thoughts...

Nexus 5...enough said

HTC needs paid television advertisements if they want to sell quantity. Not YouTube videos.

Are you by any chance Zidane? The day he retired was the day I quit watching football.

I had my concerns about the absence of Beats Audio in the upcoming "M8," so I'm glad to hear there was effort made to improve BoomSound.

@kwhite1

Beats was literally just a brand, and an Eq

-------------------------------------------------------
Sent from inside a cave. Yes, T-Mobile covers caves. N5

Yes, I've been told, however, I don't know the EQ settings to replicate the sound. Sure, I could play around with an EQ, but turning Beats on is much more convenient and simple.

Posted via AC App on HTC One

Not gonna lie, the Nexus 7 2013 had some great sounding speakers.

Posted from my "Gift from God" Note 3, my "God-Given" iPad Mini 2, or my "Risen" Samsung Chromebook.

This phone will look just like the last one. I hope the s5 haters come out and talk the same shit.

I hope that they improve the camera and that the sound is not the only selling point.

-------------------------------------------
You really should see the crap I don't post. Sorry if honesty offends you

True. They had a bit of a rough start with the whole ultra pixel camera, but that's with anything new. Hopefully the camera is better.

Nexus 5...enough said

Not a selling to YOU.
Not really one to me either but I'm not going to say no to it.
M8 improves on a lot of things the M7 did wrong
Same for Z2 and Z1.
Can't the same for Samsung

+1
Samsung did a horrible job on the phone design. It almost seems that they don't want to use metal on their phone because they don't make as much profit as plastic... Whatever the case, they failed miserably.

Nexus 5...enough said

my next phone! thunderbolt lasted this long and still going strong on the very first one( original phone)....really looking forward to getting this phone in a few months

I have a question. I rarely use the external speaker to listen to songs and other fancy stuff of the sort. Do you HTC One guys go around blasting your music and such forcing people to listen to your music? I see no real need for good external speakers on a phone since most of the time they'd be used is in a public setting.

Posted via Android Central App

It's great for watching multimedia, especially when sharing with others.

The main thing I like about it is the clarity & quality of the ringer when you receive a phone call, it doesn't sound flat or muffled like other phones & that's with the EQ off since you can't apply it to ringers (at least not without somehow modding). That's a feature I'd like in a future model.

Posted via Android Central App

Trust me, with this phone, you will be motivated to use your speakers more often. My bro has the ONE. Before he got it, he always used to wear earphones with his previous phone. Now, he uses the speakers more often. Sure, he still has a pair of headphones, but he uses his speakers a lot more.

Nexus 5...enough said

I watched Justice League War from my phone using the speakers at work when it came out.
Had no speakers and nobody else was around.
I do occasionally use the speakers for media.
Some people sleep with music on from their phones.

After playing Need for speed on the One, it changed my gaming experience permanently. It's to the point where I doubt I can give up the front facing speakers going forward.

Posted via Android Central App

Even tho i just got this G2 ,im thinking bout the new htc one i don't care for sense does any one know of a Google play edition

Posted via Android Central App

Me too. My friend is getting it, but I'm probably not even though I want it. I'm just very satisfied with my og One that I dont feel the need to upgrade. I still love it as much as when I first got it. But I'm still excited by it and cant wait to see the new features it has.

hate to say this but most average consumer around the world don't know about HTC.
Plus, it will be minor upgrade from ONE just like S5, iphone 5S, all the other phones. what innovation?
people are expecting these phones to shoot rockets or something?

All that I expect is the phone beeing there for me for all hours in job + in pub after. One charge - 4 days working like good all times... Sick and tired to check battery status every hour to be sure it lasts till home. So I'll be going for Sony Z2.. - the biggest battery in this year flagships, the biggest screen, stereo on front and waterproofing.. Yes, we've discovered in service that sony bezels are really places where the closing ports are and silicone protectors, so it looks like a big screen part as one piece, and up and down closings, surrounded by alu frame. Case solved!
